Melania Trump looked elegant, hosting the second state dinner, for the Trump Administration. Along with President Donald Trump, they welcomed Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and his wife, Jenny Morrison, on Friday, for the goodwill weekend.
The goodwill weekend is intended to solidify relations between the United States and Australia. President Trump and Prime Minister Morrison will attend bilateral meetings, tour an Australian owned factory in Ohio and enjoy a state dinner in the presidential garden. In a tweet, following the state dinner, Melania writes:
"@Potus and I send our sincere gratitude to all who made yesterday's visit and last night's state dinner such a success! Thank you to the military, State dept, East wing, usher's office and residence staff for all of your hard work."
Wearing a long seafoam gown, by American designer, J Mendel, Melania welcomed her guests to Rose Garden. Her flowing gown was detailed with ruffles at the front and long sheer sleeves, which she paired with leather Christian Louboutin heels.

Traditionally, state dinners are hosted in the White House's State Dining Room. Opting to dine with her guests outside, Melania organised elaborate green and gold décor, in the Rose Garden. The colors represented Australia's national colors. Gushing about his wife, Trump says:
"The first lady has done an incredible job tonight. The only thing that can dampen it would be rain and we're not expecting any rain. But if it rains, we head over to the State Room and we'll be just fine."
This is not the first time she wore a design by J Mendel. In 2018, Melania wore a floor length, yellow chiffon dress by the designer during a state visit at Blenheim Palace, England. The trip was Melania's first official visit to the UK. According to WWD, she wore yellow in honor of Queen Elizabeth's favourite color.

It is reported, Gilles Mendel, the creative director of J. Mendel, filed his company for bankruptcy, in 2018.
The brand is currently trying to rebrand itself, and it seems Melania promoting their designs, has been good for business. The seafoam dress has since sold out. It normally retails at $6,000 on the Bergdorf Goodman website.
