People: Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter Are 'Still Friends' after Reportedly Breaking Up

Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter's romance is reportedly over, but a source close to the two maintains that they are still in each other's lives as friends.

Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter's relationship seem to typify that "What happens in the summer, do not cross over into the Fall." According to People, the barely two-month relationship between the two is over.

THEY REVERTED TO THE DAYS BEFORE THE ROMANCE

A source close to the two told the news outlet:

"Miley and Kaitlynn have broken off, [but] they are still friends."

The source added:

"They've been friends forever and were there for each other when they were both getting separated. But they are not in a romantic relationship anymore."

Cyrus and Carter were previously married to Liam Hemsworth, and Brody Jenner respectively. They both separated from their spouses within weeks of each other last August and got photographed kissing while vacationing in Italy.

The pop icon and the "The Hills: New Beginnings" star made their red carpet debut at the MTV VMA's, after which the singer wrote a lengthy piece on social media, making it clear that she never cheated on Hemsworth.

Cyrus wrote:

"The truth is, once Liam, and I reconciled, I meant it, and I was committed. There are no secrets to uncover here."

The "Wrecking Ball" singer noted that while she'll admit to a lot of things, she won't admit that her marriage ended because of an affair, and made it clear that she loves, and will always love Hemsworth.

THE INTERNET IS DIVIDED

Cyrus and the "Hunger Games" star's marriage lasted for seven months, and before that, they had an on-again, off-again relationship.

Since the news of the "Slide Away," singer breakup with Carter, broke, fans have been speculating if it means reconciliation with their soon-to-be ex-husbands, or it was just a summer fling.

One person speculated on social media:

"Cyrus will probably want her husband back, but it won't happen because of her public [indiscretions]."

Another opined:
