Beyonce attended the Tyler Perry Studio Grand Gala over the weekend, and she stunned the crowd in a dazzling golden gown with her husband Jay-Z by her side.
Beyonce put on a show at the Tyler Perry Studio grand opening in Atlanta, where she donned a gold beaded dress designed by Yousef Aljasmi. She accessorized her look with diamond drop earrings by Anabela Chan and a pair of strappy sandals.
Beyonce's mom, Tina Knowles-Lawson, was also in attendance with her husband Richard Lawson. The star-studded event was attended by proudly Black celebrities, such as Oprah Winfrey, Halle Berry, Ava DuVernay, Taraji P. Henson, Kelly Rowland, and Viola Davis.
The Only Movie Studio Owned by a Black Man
According to AJC, Perry's new studio "is the only major film studio in the country owned by an African-American." His newly-built 330-acre studio cost a whopping $250 million to build.
Earlier this year, Perry himself shared the truth about the land where he decided to build Tyler Perry Studios, particularly its dark and racist past which he hopes would inspire others.
The History of the Studio Grounds
As he accepted another BET award, Perry shares the reason why he built the studio in that particular area.
"When I built my studio, [it was in the] poorest Black neighborhood in Atlanta so the kids can see that a Black man did that and they can too."

A Great Irony
The place where he built his studio was once Fort McPherson, a Confederate Army base camp during the Civil War, a time where people were trying to keep the Blacks enslaved. Now, he purchased the 330-acre land which holds 12 sound stages for movie productions.

Perry also proudly shared that while it began as a place where soldiers were "plotting and planning to keep negroes enslaved, now that land is owned by one negro."
Perry as an Inspiration
While Perry's message is rather admirable, he tells people that he would rather be an inspiration than an icon. He constantly tells dreamers to own their stuff and make things happen for themselves.
"Own your stuff. Own your business."
Making a Difference
With a net worth of approximately $600 million, it's always been in Tyler Perry's nature to give back. Through many random acts of kindness, he's proven time and time again that while he's successful in his craft, he never forgets his roots.
Now, with his new studio, he hopes to help even more black artists excel in their crafts.
