CAMERON REVEALED HE JUST COULDN'T STOP

In this week's issue of People, 40-year-old Cameron got candid about his life as an addict. He told the news outlet that he started using drugs when he was a teen, beginning with marijuana before graduating to cocaine and heroin.

His options were either death or prison, and he got the later

By the time he was 25, the actor's son was injecting cocaine as often as "three times an hour." He then graduated to carrying a gun and dealing in methamphetamine, and he said,

"I hated the wreckage I saw in my life because of drugs, but I just couldn't stop," adding, "It's a sneaky power; a stranglehold that addiction has when you are in the throes of it."

IT'S EITHER DEATH OR PRISON

Cameroon admitted that in the state he was in, his options were either death or prison, and he got the later.

On the cover of People that had the words "A father's Love, a Son's Addiction," shared on their Instagram page, it is evident that Michael never gave up on his son even at his lowest.

" life became a series of crisis, [and] I thought I was going to lose him"

The actor, who lost his brother, Eric Douglas, to drug overdose in 2004, told the news outlet he was sacred his son wouldn't make it alive.

"There were moments when hope dwindled," he said, "… life became a series of crisis, [and] I thought I was going to lose him."

PRISON BECAME CAMERON'S SALVATION

The "Kominsky Method," star did lose his son for about eight years after he got sentenced for distributing drugs, and a second sentence for smuggling it into prison.

However, getting incarcerated became a blessing in disguise, as Cameron got sober while serving his sentence, and turned his life around.

In an Instagram post showing him and Michael, with a copy of People's new issue by the side, he wrote,

"I'd like to thank @people for investing in my story and helping me reach out on this topic that is so important to so many individuals and families all over the world. Together we can make a difference."

Cameron got out of prison in 2016 and lived in a halfway house in Brooklyn, New York, before a judge allowed him to return to Los Angeles in 2017.

He has remained sober since, is a father to 22-month-old daughter, Lua, and he is about to release his memoir, "Long Way Home." In the end, the dad-of-one was able to stop and find his way home.
