John Clarke, 'Days of Our Lives' Actor, Passes Away Aged 88

Actress Melinda Clarke shares that her father, John Clarke of "Days of Our Lives," is finally "at peace" after news of his demise surfaced online.

John Clarke's grown daughter, Melinda Clarke, shared the unfortunate news of her father's death on Monday night via Instagram.

She posted a throwback picture of the deceased actor surrounded by his little family and captioned it with an emotional message explaining that she had been with him at the time of his death.

She wrote:

"With much sadness, I'm sharing that John Clarke, my father, my mentor, passed as I sang to him."

The sweet revelation is followed by Melinda's hint that she finds comfort in knowing that her father is now resting in peace. She wrote:

"He is at peace. Death is as much a part life as birth. He is in peace."

The message is short, but it is one that leaves the readers sad as Melinda manages to pass across the disheartened emotions even while portraying a positive outlook.

Reports share that John Clarke, who starred in American daytime opera, "Days of Our Lives" for nearly forty years, passed away on October 16 from complications of pneumonia. He was 88.

Clarke, who was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Daytime Emmy in 2005, had been in declining health for the last several years, including a stroke he suffered in 2007.

While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, a representative for Melinda, who kicked off her acting career in "Days of Our Lives," explained that Melinda and the actor, who retired in 2004, trained opera together, and she sang "Ave Maria" to him as he passed peacefully in Laguna Beach, California.
