Hilary Duff Celebrates First Day of Filming 'Lizzy McGuire' Revival in New York with a Smiling Photo
Hilary Duff welcomed the first day of filming the revival of Disney's Lizzie MacGuire with a big smile, and she shared the joyous occasion with fans on social media.
"Happy first LIZZIE day!!!" Hilary captioned an image of herself in front of the Washington Square Arch on October 29.
The actress's fiancé of five months, Matthew Koma, couldn't resist with a flirty reply to her celebratory post as he wrote, "Ugh, I can't wait to role play."
Meanwhile, Disney+ also took to social media and marked the day with images from the set, like Hilary taking a stuffed alpaca for a walk.
“Alpaca your bags!” the post reads. “Lizzie McGuire, an original series coming soon to #DisneyPlus, is heading to the Big Apple for the next chapter in Lizzie’s story. Check out this exclusive photo from the first day of production.”
The original "Lizzie McGuire," wherein Hilary played the title role, came from creator Terri Minsky and turned into one of the Disney Channel's biggest hits.
Hilary reprises her role in the sitcom remake as it centers around herself as a 30-year-old millennial and how she navigates New York City life. A new addition to the series is Lizzie's thoughts manifesting as a younger and animated version of herself giving running, and often funny commentary.
While attending the D23 Expo in August, where news of the show's revival became official, Hilary excitedly shared that the remake couldn't have happened at a better time.
“It’s crazy. I really missed her. I think now is a great time for her to come back in her 30s. She’s everybody’s best friend, and I can’t wait to go on this next chapter with her,” Hilary said.
Hilary's acting chapter kicked off at the age of eight, only a year older than her son Luca is now. Because of her busy schedule, Hilary traded traditional schooling for the flexibility of homeschooling.
However, she now feels the impact of it while helping Luca with his arithmetic, as she shared alongside a picture of herself with Luca while hitting the books before Monday.

“This guy with his spirit and kindness,” she wrote. “Homework is already no joke in 2nd grade. I stopped going to ‘real’ school in 3rd grade, so I’m actually doomed.”
Hilary and Matthew Koma announced their engagement in May with a photo wherein Hilary beamed as much as her stunning engagement ring with the caption, "He asked me to be his wife♥️"
The couple has had an on-and-off-again relationship since 2017, but since became inseparable and also became proud parents of their first child and daughter together, Banks Violet Bair in October 2018.
