Niecy Nash from 'Claws' Opens up about Split from Husband Jay Tucker after 8 Years and Says It Was Easy for Them

Niecy Nash opened up about the love and friendship she still has for her husband, Jay Tucker in spite of their separation. She also reveals her thoughts on dating again and how she'd react if Tucker starts seeing other women.

For some married couples, splitting up is complicated and usually comes with a lot of hard feelings. But for Niecy Nash and her husband, Jay Tucker, it was “easy.”

WHY IT WAS EASY

Nash opened up about her recent split from her husband of eight years with a light heart and a positive disposition. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight exclusively at the red carpet of the 2019 Glamour Women of the Year Awards in New York City, the television star revealed it was their friendship that made their separation a breeze.

“For us, it's easy, because we love each other," the 49-year-old explained. "The love has just taken on a different form,but [he’s] always gonna be my friend. Always."

"I'm just over here drinking my water and healing. I ain't ready to put all this back on the block.”

Nash told Extra the same thing during a separate interview at the same event.

“It was just a part of our lives that we are in, because we are really great friends who still love each other. The love has just transitioned into a different type, and so we just said, ‘Let’s let the world catch up to where we have already been,’ because by the time you get it, the news is real old in our lives.”

WHAT CAUSED THEIR SPLIT

When Nash and Tucker announced their split on October 30, they assured fans that they remain friends who love each other.

“Our truth is that in this season of our lives, we are better friends than partners in marriage," confessed the amicable couple in their joint statement. They added, “As we go our separate ways now, we feel fortunate for the love we share -- present tense."

HER THOUGHTS ON DATING

With their separation still fresh, Nash has no intentions of dating just yet. “It’s too much too soon,” she says.

"I'm just over here drinking my water and healing. I ain't ready to put all this back on the block,” she explains.

As for Tucker dating again, Nash feels protective and joked that she would want to scrutinize the girl first.

"I would have to interview any girl who's gonna be on his block. I gotta make sure he's taken care of."

Nash and Tucker tied the knot in a Malibu vineyard in 2011. The “Claws” star has been married previously to Don Nash with whom she has three children.

Of her hit series, Nash admits she’s excited about its fourth and final season though she isn’t privy to what’s in store.

“I haven’t seen a script yet… I’m hoping to see what happens with the crew, 'cause we left on such a huge cliffhanger and I want to see what happens with these ladies.”
