Michael Douglas and Diandra Luker Officially Called It Quits in 2000 - Meet the Actor's First Wife 19 Years after Their Divorce

In 2000, Michael Douglas and Diandra Luker decided to part ways after over two decades of marriage. During their union, the couple welcomed their only child, Cameron Douglas.

Diandra Luker and Michael Douglas shocked their fans when they parted ways after a marriage spanning 23 years.

The couple met for the first time at Georgetown University when Diandra was 19 and Michael was 32.

Currently, Michael is married to actress Cathrine Zeta-Jones. Meanwhile, Diandra got married to entrepreneur and environmental activist Michael Klein in 2005, but they parted ways after a short time.

AN EXPENSIVE DIVORCE SETTLEMENT

Michael and Diandra's divorce might not have cost them their friendship, but it was a costly affair for the "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" actor.

According to Variety, Diandra's estimated divorce settlement amounted to a whopping $45 million.

But the huge settlement wasn't the only thing that Diandra walked away with--the duo had a few shared properties including their luxurious S'Estaca house.

Although the two are not in bad terms, Michael once revealed that he wishes he would have divorced his wife 10 years sooner.

MICHAEL REGRETS NOT ENDING THE MARRIAGE SOONER

In an interview with The Mirror, the actor shared that he feels like he and his ex-wife Diandra should have split up sooner.

"I know I’m going to get into trouble here. I have nothing against her and in fact I’m very fond of my first wife. But we should have ended that marriage eight or 10 years earlier."

According to the actor, if a couple chooses to go to a marriage counselor to resolve their issues, the counselor will help the couple to keep the marriage going because it's in their interest.

Because if I end the marriage he’s got no business. I think Diandra would probably say the same thing. That’s the only clear regret that I have," Michael added.

DIANDRA HAS THREE OTHER CHILDREN BESIDES CAMERON

Diandra welcomed her first child, Cameron, when she was married to Michael on December 19, 1978.

After her split with Michael, she welcomed her twin sons, Hudson and Hawk, with her former fiancé Zach Hampton Bacon II. The boys were born via surrogate.

Later, the mother-of-three adopted a Kazakh daughter, Imara. On the other hand, her ex-husband Michael shares two children, Dylan and Carys, with his current wife Catherine.
