Gladys Knight Looks Amazing in Velvet Dress She Wore for 75th Birthday Party in Photos Shared by Husband William McDowell

Gladys Knight's post-birthday celebration months after she turned 75 made "memories that will last a lifetime" according to her husband, William McDowell.

It’s been months since Gladys Knight turned 75 (in May) but the celebrations continued. Last month, a party was held in her honor and Gladys was grateful. Her husband, William McDowell recently relived that night with photos he describes as “memories that will last a lifetime.”

"...we just will never know the hour, the moment, the day, the time that we’re supposed to go. So you should make the most of every moment.”

Knight looked lovely during her post-birthday bash held at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill Jazz in Bel-Air, California. She wore a gold-embroidered velvet dress for the affair which saw her blowing candles off of a three-tiered birthday cake. Her husband complimented her look wearing a white suit and held her hand in one of the photos he shared.

A host of stars came to celebrate Knight including David Foster and his wife, Katharine McPhee, La Toya Jackson, Terry Crews, Loni Love, and Diana Warren. Entertainment was provided by Taylor Dayne, Chante Moore, Freda Payne, V. Bozeman, Brie Capone, Louis Price and Al B. Sure who all participated in a jam session.

The highlight, of course, was Knight’s performance closing the evening with her own hit, “Midnight Train to Georgia.”

At the red carpet that night, Knight was just grateful to be celebrating with her friends in the industry.

“I feel blessed,” she told reporters. “Cause you know, we just will never know the hour, the moment, the day, the time that we’re supposed to go. So you should make the most of every moment.”

Her husband, McDowell couldn’t agree more when he shared photos from the occasion and wrote, “Always making memories that will last a lifetime.”

McDowell is Knight’s fourth husband and they’ve been married since 2001. Combined, they have 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The couple resides in North Carolina where they jointly helped launch the Reynolds Community Center at Canton’s Gibsontown neighborhood.

In 2016, they launched a fundraising campaign to build the center at the site where Reynold’s High School was. The project was expected to be completed this year.
