Serena Williams Reportedly Reveals She Wanted to Have Children Who Are Close in Age like Her and Sister Venus
Serena Williams recently revealed that she initially wanted her and husband Alexis Ohanian to have children close in age. The tennis star’s wish had a lot to do with her upbringing alongside sister Venus Williams.
Serena and Alexis welcomed their daughter Olympia in 2017, and both revealed at the time that delivery was a life-threatening experience for the Grand Slam champion.

In a recent interview with Page Six, however, Serena revealed she would have loved to have another child almost straight away: “I’m, like, ‘Oh my God, I wanted her to have a sibling, and it’s getting farther and farther away.’”
"I'm not going to wait for someone to make something for me. I’m going to make something that not only fits me but fits other people"
“[Olympia’s 2 and I always wanted [them to be closer in age] because I am so close to my sister [Venus Williams],” she added. “We are 15 months apart, and I’m like, ‘That ship has sailed.’ We’ll see, I obviously want more.”
Serena and Alexis’ only child, Olympia, was born in September 2017 and has been a pride and joy to the athlete and tech mogul. The toddler has even become one of the internet’s favorite babies, thanks to her Instagram account.
Serena has always been vocal about her love for motherhood and would often show off precious moments with Olympia via social media. Per Closer Weekly, the 38-year-old has even been sharing tips with Venus.
“What I admire most about her is how dedicated she is, and if I ever become a mom, she showed me how to do it,” Venus, 39, reportedly once said. The fellow tennis icon is, no doubt, her sister’s fan.
While Serena figures out how to give Olympia a sibling, she’s keeping busy with her namesake clothing line and several philanthropic efforts.
According to Tennis World Foundation, the Michigan native recently opened up about how her body insecurities eventually influenced the passion for creating clothes for women of all sizes.
"I always felt like there was nothing out there for me and for my hips and my waist or my butt and my chest, and I can go on and on,” she said.
Serena added:
“I'm not going to wait for someone to make something for me. I’m going to make something that not only fits me, but fits other people too. When I’m trying on clothes that are too small for me, I’m like [expletive].”
In another article, the outlet reported that Serena Williams Ventures has been collaborating with other non-profit organizations to build schools in Uganda, Kenya, Jamaica, and Zimbabwe.
If she does decide to have another child, Serena will have her hands full. But on more than one occasion, Serena has proved she’s up to the task with her support system, including Alexis and Venus.
