On an episode of the YouTube channel Showtime Basketball, Dwyane Wade sits down to speak about his family, particularly his son Zion whom he says has "way more courage" than him after coming out as gay.

Dwyane Wade is proud of his 12-year-old son for staying true to himself despite the criticism he's been getting from other people.

Being the son of a famous NBA player is never easy, as the spotlight is on them and whether or not they'll follow in their famous dads' footsteps. For Zion, it was a shock for people to find out that he wasn't into basketball, and that he was gay.

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have always been supportive of what their children want to do, even if it's not what society expects of them.

THE BEST EXAMPLE OF A COURAGEOUS MAN

When asked about courage during the show, Dwyane says that the best example of a courageous person is his very own 12-year-old son, Zion.

“You want to talk about strength and courage … my 12-year-old has way more than I have. You can learn something from your kids. In our house, that’s all we talk about. We talk about making sure our kids are seen by each of us. Me and my wife, we talk about making sure our kids understand the power in their voice. We want them to be whatever they feel they can be in this world. That’s our goal.”

ZION WADE COMING OUT AS GAY

Zion Wade has been the subject of criticism for coming out as gay, and while so many people on the internet continue to troll him, he remains unfazed because, at the end of the day, his very own family protects him and backs him up.

The Wades have made it clear that they really don't care for anyone else's opinions on their upbringing or support of Zion, and they speak out because they know that many other families and children are going through what they are.

"When I respond to things socially, I'm not responding because you hurt my feelings. I’m not responding because I even care enough about what you’re saying. Why I’m responding is because I understand my platform. I understand that I’m speaking for a lot of people who don’t have the same voice that I have.”

PROTECTING ONE ANOTHER AT ALL COSTS

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have always been supportive of what their children want to do, even if it's not what society expects of them. Likewise, Zion's older brother Zaire also made it clear that he'll support his brother no matter what.

In one of his recent posts, he wrote: "We didn't ask for y'all opinion," and that speaks volumes about how much the Wade family is willing to protect one another.
