THE DRINKING GAME

Drinking was like second nature to Williams. In fact, the day Elton invited the singer to listen to his recordings, he did a drinking stint, which he considers to be a game. He said:

"That morning, I got in a black cab, and I had this game that I used to play where I'd stop at every pub I saw and have half a pint."

Williams had more than enough alcohol in his system before arriving at the studio but still had red wine before going to Elton's home.

By the time he arrived at the house, he was covered in food and stains of red wine from his drinking marathon the whole day.

INSISTING WILLIAMS TO CHECK-IN REHAB

It only took a while before the "Your Song" artist convinced his friend to check into rehab at that moment, instead of waiting for the following week. Williams recalled:

"' I can't go to rehab now, I'm going next week.' He said: 'No, you've got to go to rehab now,' and I said, 'I've got to go to rehab now,' and this kept going back and forth at the door."

When the singer helped fellow musician Billy Joel, he was labeled judgmental and was ignored by the latter.

Elton took matters to his own hands and brought drunk Williams to his house and set up arrangements for his rehabilitation treatment.

The next thing the singer remembered is waking up and seeing Elton and David Furnish with a doctor and a psychiatrist to take him in for therapy.

ELTON JOHN'S KIND NATURE

Williams was not the first celebrity the iconic musician helped with addiction. Being a former addict himself, Elton was able to help artists like Rufus Wainwright.

However, not all celebrities welcomed Elton's kind gesture and helping hand, including the late Whitney Houston and George Michael.
