Magic Johnson’s wife, Earleatha "Cookie" Johnson is known to keep a relatively low profile, but she does know how to pull off a good outfit. In a recent photo, Cookie is the epitome of class and glamor in a black, tailored suit.

For someone who has been through quite a lot publicly, Cookie has mastered the art of carrying herself with an air of confidence and grace. These qualities always manage to shine through no matter what she’s doing.

A few days ago, the 60-year-old took to Instagram with a throwback picture of herself wearing a tailored suit over a sparkly top. She accessorized with black shoes and posed for the camera while crossing her legs.

Long after Magic and Cookie had dealt with the fallout of his diagnosis, the couple was in a tough spot again

"Smile...it’s almost Friday!" Cookie captioned the post, which has since gotten likes and comments from fans and celebrity friends, including Arsenio Hall, LL Cool J’s wife Simone Smith, and Beyoncé’s mom Tina Lawson.

One can hardly tell from her smile in the throwback picture, but Cookie has passed through some very challenging times in life. Growing up in Alabama, and later Detroit, she could not have imagined being one day married to an NBA superstar.

According to AL.com, she met Magic (born Earvin Johnson Jr.) while they were both students at Michigan State University, and the lovebirds tied the knot in September 1991.

Unlike most newlyweds, however, Cookie’s world came crashing two months after the wedding when Magic announced that he had been diagnosed with HIV. "It was the scariest thing I had ever faced," she told For The Win in 2016.

"It was like your whole world just crashes right in front of you," Cookie confessed, adding that the two-week wait period for HIV testing at the time almost had her at her wits’ end. Cookie was not only scared for herself but also for the unborn child she carried.

When the tests came back negative, Cookie revealed she had mixed feelings:

"When we found out the results of my tests and the baby’s tests it was just like a big weight lifted, but then we found out his second test still confirmed that he had it so that was pretty devastating."

Cookie, however, stood by her husband and joined him in his newfound commitment to fighting the misconceptions and stigma surrounding HIV and the people living with it.

Long after Magic and Cookie had dealt with the fallout of his diagnosis, the couple was in a tough spot again when their son, E.J Johnson, came out as gay in 2013. Again, Cookie was very instrumental to the family overcoming that hurdle.

Magic, 60, and Cookie celebrated their 28th anniversary last September and the NBA Hall of Famer and reiterated that marrying his wife "was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made." Cookie also celebrated her man with loving tributes and cute throwback photos.

Besides their son E.J, Cookie and Magic are also parents to Elisa, a daughter they adopted in 1995. Magic has an older son, Andre, from a previous relationship, and today, they're all one big happy family.
