Jessica Simpson Talks in Detail about Rise & Fall of Her Marriage to Nick Lachey in New Memoir 'Open Book'

Jessica revealed in her memoir, the details of her marriage to her ex-husband, Nate Lachey, stating that they were not on talking terms even before they divorced.

Back then, it seemed like it was going to be happily ever after for Jessica and Nate as their relationship was one of the most talked about relationships in the early 2000s.

They even attracted more attention when they starred in the MTV reality series, "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica." After being together for almost seven years, the couple called it quits and had a divorce.

In her new memoir, "Open Book," which is yet to be released, Jessica shared details about the ups and downs of her marriage to Nick.

There was the story of how they met, fell in love, got married, and tragically divorced; she revealed details up until the divorce. According to her, they were not speaking before their dissolution. She said in her book,

"We had been together for almost seven years when I told Nick, 'I think I want a divorce.' I later heard that he told the press he was blindsided. I don't know-how. At that point, we were not even speaking to each other." .

Nick later told Rolling Stone in an interview that after she told him, he pleaded with her to let them sleep on it, which they did, and the next day, Jessica was still sure about her decision.

In 2005, they announced that they were going their separate ways, and on June 30, 2006, they officially finalized their divorce.

They have since moved on to find "happily ever after" with other people.

Jessica has also opened up about some of her regrets. When asked what her biggest money mistake was, she revealed that her biggest financial mistake was her marriage to Nick Lachey.

Unfortunately for Jessica, she did not sign a prenup. It was reported that in her divorce, she was to pay Nick the sum of $12 million. She said:

"The biggest money mistakes? I don't know. For some reason, I thought of my first marriage!"

Nick, on the other hand, was grateful he never had kids with Jessica. He said it was probably the best thing for both of them in their situation as they were able to go on with their lives.

It's been over a decade since Nick and Jessica split, and they have since moved on to find happily ever after with other people.

In 2014, Jessica Simpson tied the knot with the new love of her life, NFL player Eric Johnson with whom she has two children.

Nick Lachey, on the other hand, married the Television personality, Vanessa Minnillo, and has become a parent to three children.
