Jessica Simpson Reveals She Was Upset When Nick Lachey Used Her Dad's Sexuality as a Punch Line
During a recent interview, Jessica Simpson responded to her ex, Nick Lachey, joking about her father Joe Simpson's sexuality. She made it clear that she hates it when her family is a punchline.
In a February 7 episode of SiriusXM's "Town Hall," the 39-year-old pop star told host Andy Cohen, 51, that she had found out about Lachey's joke and for her "that was low."
She also pointed out that it's not for him to discuss by any means since he is no longer associated with their family.
ONLY BITTER
Simpson, who signed a recording contract with Columbia Records at sixteen years old, added she was "very pissed" about her ex-husband's comments. She continued:
“He was just bitter and he was just trying to take a dig.”
Lachey made fun of Simpson's father when he made an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen."
LACHEY'S JOKE
"The best thing about not having Joe Simpson anymore as a father-in-law is I don't have to play grab-ass under the table on Easter Sunday," he told Cohen during the game Plead the Fifth.
Lachey, who rose to stardom as the lead singer of the famous boyband 98 Degrees, added that it may not be entertaining tomorrow, "but it is tonight."

THE MALE MODEL
As reported by Us Weekly, Simpson described in her memoir "Open Book" how her father brought a male model as a guest to her wedding to Eric Johnson in 2014.
The "Come On Over" singer wrote that three days before they left for the wedding, Joe called to inform her that he's bringing his companion Jonathan, a young model he regularly shot for his new photography business.
Rumors began that Joe and Jonathan were dating when they were spotted together in Miami in 2014. Joe, however, insisted at the time that Jonathan was his only modeling client.

In a recent interview with Los Angeles Times, Simpson said that she didn't feel it was her place to comment on her father's sexuality.
Simpson and Lachey tied the knot in October 2002, in Austin, Texas. Their new life together was chronicled on the reality series called "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica," as reported by PEOPLE.
The "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" singer once said that the pressure of attempting to experience an ideal marriage was too much to bear.
In November 2005, the couple announced they were separating. Their divorce was finalized on June 30, 2006.
