Wendy Williams Clears up Dating Rumors but Fans Blame Her for Starting Them

After posting a series of pictures which raised speculations that she and Selby were romantic, Wendy tried to clear the air on her show, but her fans weren't buying it.

The American TV host was recently the subject of wild rumors suggesting that she was in a relationship with the jeweler, William Selby.

These speculations stemmed from posts by the TV host of herself and Selby wearing matching colored outfits and looking cozy together.

On Monday's episode of her show, "The Wendy Williams Show," the 55-year-old decided to address the issue and clear up the rumors.

Unfortunately, her approach wasn't very effective as Wendy fans didn't believe her. According to them, she initiated the rumors herself. Someone said:

"I like you, but you definitely started this rumors yourself on purpose… because if y'all are not dating, then why make it look like you're dating."

While some thought she posted the pictures to get back at her ex, others thought she just wanted to attract the attention of the media.

Fans said Williams knew exactly what she was doing when she put the pictures on social media and just wanted to be the hot topic, apparently, her mission has been accomplished.

The 55-year-old TV host was married to her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, for over two decades.

To dispel the rumors, Wendy gave a detailed explanation of the events that occurred that particular evening and said she understood why the whole thing happened to be misconstrued.

According to her, she had a fun time that weekend, but her actions during her time out with Selby and afterward was all very innocent. She said:

"I had an interesting weekend. It was all innocent to me, but apparently, it caused waves everywhere else. All I'm doing is being Wendy."

At the end of her explanation, Wendy insisted that the jeweler is just her friend and nothing more. She also confirmed that he has a family; she is currently not in a relationship.

The 55-year-old TV host was married to her ex-husband, Kevin hunter for over two decades. With him, she shares her only child, 19-year-old Kevin Hunter Jr.

In April 2019, Wendy filed for a divorce, and in January, their divorce was finalized. They both decided to forgo alimony.

Wendy and Kevin also decided to sell their house in New Jersey and share the proceeds while Kevin signs over his shares of Wendy Williams production to her.
