Mothers are special. The sacrifices they make for their children and family cannot be overemphasized. It is no wonder that there are special days set aside to celebrate the women who have shaped lives.

Prince Charles celebrated his mother, the Queen, in a sweet post on Instagram by sharing a nostalgic picture of the two of them.

PRINCE CHARLES AND QUEEN ELIZABETH

The post, which was shared via the Clarence House Instagram page, showed the young Prince and his mother standing in front of what looked to be a lawn yard. The caption of the post read:

"Wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day, particularly in a year when families may not be able to be together."

In the picture, mother and son seemed to be engrossed with something in the distance that had Charles waving. While Queen Elizabeth was dressed in an alluring smart dress and pearls, Charles wore a stunning peacoat with his hair neatly combed.

MOTHERS DAY

The royal kids seem to be quite thoughtful when it comes to celebrating Mother's Day. Asides from Prince Charles sharing the elegant picture, Prince George gave his mum a thoughtful gift for Mother's Day.

Despite the rigor involved in running the royal family, the Queen takes her mothering job seriously

The gift, which was a card, showed the creative side of the six-year-old. Prince George painted the card yellow and drew a yellow flower vase with the love sign in the middle.

WHAT FANS HAD TO SAY

Following the posting of the picture, fans and well-wishers took to the comments section to share their thoughts and opinions about the throwback picture. One person said:

"...It must have been so hard to say goodbye to those carefree days! I think most people don't realize the tremendous sacrifice Her Majesty had to make. ❤️"

Some also noted that there was quite a lot of resemblance between Prince Charles and his first grandson, Prince George.

THROWBACKS

This is not the first time a throwback of the Queen and one of her children would be seen. Last year, the official twitter handle of the Royal family shared a tweet that contained a collage of the Queen and her four children.

In the collage, the first picture is the one of the Queen and Prince Charles that he recently shared. The second was that of Princess Anne and her mother petting a horse.

The third showed the Queen and Prince Andrew while the last was of the mother of four holding her last child Prince Edwards.

Still, in the spirit of throwbacks, the official Royal family Instagram account shared a gorgeous photo of the Queen and her late mother. The picture was posted in honor of Mother's Day.

It is comely to note that despite the rigor involved in running the royal family, the Queen takes her mothering job seriously, and this is evident in how mannered all her children have turned out.
