Michelle Obama Talks about Staying at Home during Self-Isolation during Call with Ellen DeGeneres
Ellen DeGeneres "brightens" Michelle Obama's day with a caring phone call to see how the former First Lady is doing while self-isolated with her family at home.
Appreciative of the care shown by her friend Ellen DeGeneres, Michelle Obama took to social media to thank the talk show host for her phone call on a rainy day.

WHAT THE OBAMAS ARE UP TO
Michelle posted a video of their conversation, and in the caption, she noted the "wonders" a call from a loved one can do in lifting her spirits since social distancing can bring up feelings of loneliness.
Time for all of us to reflect on what’s important and try to be creative.
Ellen kicked off the almost 6-minute video by asking the former First Lady how she keeps busy and creative during this time in self-isolation.
ROUTINE IS IMPORTANT TO THEM DURING THIS TIME
Without hesitation, Michelle said that structuring their days plays a big part. Her daughters Malia and Sasha are at home since colleges moved to online learning, and with Barack at home as well, he is often busy on the phone or in a conference call.
Even though the Obamas "keep a routine going," they also indulge in "a little Netflix and chilling," which Ellen could relate to. The talk show host also hopes that her family can spend time at her Santa Barbara home with her and wife Portia De Rossi, and added:
"It’s an interesting time and you know, a time for all of us to reflect on what’s important and try to be creative.”
With extra time on their hands, it's also an excellent time to catch up on exercise, and Ellen suggested that she and Michelle engage in a planking contest for charity as soon as they are able, while people can "bet on who's gonna win."
ELLEN AND MICHELLE'S DUET
The last time Michelle and Ellen came together, is when Michelle visited Ellen at her house to celebrate the launch of her journal called "Becoming: A Guided Journal for Discovering Your Voice."
The pair promptly turned their excitement into song, as Ellen sat down at her piano, followed by an improv duet whereby they quirkily sang to the journal's purpose.
Ellen and the Obamas also have something very uplifting in common - advocating for the rights of the disenfranchised and vulnerable.
To honor Ellen for her efforts, along with those of other celebrities, including Diana Ross, Robert DeNiro, and Tom Hanks, Barack Obama awarded them his last Presidential Medals of Freedom towards the end of 2016.
ELLEN CHECKED IN WITH OTHERS TO
With filming of her talk show halted amid the coronavirus pandemic, Ellen DeGeneres is making the most of the extra free time by also checking in on her other celebrity friends.
Apart from wishing "Maroon 5" frontman Adam Levine a happy birthday, Ellen also called up Jessica Biel and husband Justin Timberlake, who shared her boredom while in self-isolation.
