Miguel A. Nunez Jr. was checking out at the cashier of a Ralph's supermarket in LA this week when his credit card got declined. Instead of reaching for another mode of payment, he allegedly took the groceries in the cart and walked out the front door.

After getting tired of waiting, he decided to leave with his items, hoping to pay for them another day.

CAUGHT IN THE ACT

Unfortunately for Nunez, he returned to the exact same Ralph's store a few days later, where he was banned from entering and instead, cops were called. He was allegedly placed under citizen's arrest and when LAPD showed up, they cited him for misdemeanor shoplifting before being sent on his way.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, cops are not booking and jailing people for minor offenses. Instead, they are given a ticket which is still considered an arrest.

MIGUEL'S SIDE OF THE STORY

Meanwhile, Miguel tried to explain his side of the story, saying that the line at the supermarket was way too long, and that there was a 6-feet rule between buyers because of the Coronavirus threat. After getting tired of waiting, he decided to leave with his items, hoping to pay for them another day.

When he tried to give the store manager $200 to pay for the groceries, it was turned down and he was told he wasn't special.

ANOTHER UNFORTUNATE SHOPLIFTING STORY

This isn't the first time a celebrity was caught shoplifting, as last year, Jerod Sechrist of Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch" was caugh shoplifting $1,034 worth of items from IKEA.

Sechrist walked out of the store without paying for the products, but security managed to catch up right away. After loading up a shopping cart with electronics, he pulled it away with a bicycle.

Unfortunately for him, he didn't get very far before ditching the stolen goods as security staff managed to take his picture before fleeing the scene on his bike. Thanks to their proof of his identity, they obtained a warrant for his arrest.
