Chris Cuomo and Wife Cristina Are Battling COVID-19 — Meet Their Three Beautiful Children
CNN journalist Chris Cuomo was diagnosed with COVID-19 two weeks ago, and one of his fears became a reality when his wife Cristina also tested positive for the disease.
Chris Cuomo has been documenting his battle with COVID-19 through his weekly night show “Cuomo Prime Time,” which he streams from the basement of his home, where he has been self-quarantining.
The CNN journalist shared his diagnosis through an Instagram post, where he also mentioned that his worst fear was passing the disease to his wife and their three kids.
CHRIS’ FEARS BECOMES A REALITY
Sadly, Cristina Cuomo tested positive for the virus this week, as Chris revealed while talking with his brother, New York City Governor Andrew Cuomo, last Wednesday.
“Cristina now has COVID, she is now positive, and it just breaks my heart,” Chris explained. “It is the one thing I was hoping wouldn’t happen, and now it has.”
Families all over know the reality our family faces: few are one case and done. Sure enough, Cristina has covid now. Kids are still healthy but this shook us at our literal core. All are stepping up. Can't wait to shake this fever so I can help her as she helped me. Sucks. pic.twitter.com/ncyoQ3saWc— Christopher C. Cuomo (@ChrisCuomo) April 16, 2020
Although Chris revealed that he had gone a bit frantic over passing the virus to his wife, he assured everyone that Cristina is taking the diagnosis “in stride.”
Talking to Anderson Cooper and Dr. Sanjay Gupta on a CNN coronavirus townhall on Thursday, Chris revealed that Cristina’s symptoms were different from his, and he believes it is because she has a stronger immune system.
“She lost her sense of smell and taste, but no fever. Sinus pressure in her head and a little bit of residual frustration at me.”
Now that the couple is quarantining separately, their kids are in charge of their home, especially their oldest daughter, who stepped up to take care not only of her sick parents but also of her siblings.
MEET THE CUOMO KIDS
Chris and Cristina Greeven got married on November 24, 2001, and they are the proud parents of three kids: Bella, 17, Mario, 14, and Carolina, 11.
At the time Chris announced Cristina was pregnant with their youngest one, the journalist joked, saying he would be “outnumbered.” However, he said the kids were the focus of his and Cristina's existence.
Bella, the oldest, seems to be the artist of the family. She has been in several stage productions, including “Chicago," “Mary Poppins,” and "Into the Woods," as seen on her mother’s Instagram.
The talented teenager has a powerful singing voice and stage presence that keeps the family entertained during holiday gatherings.

This is 15. It’s a rare moment when Bella lets me take her picture, let alone post it (but this one was worth her wrath.) 🏄🏻♀️Here she is post surf, supporting me + Purist’s @sam_edelman event, reading Portable Purist, + collecting signatures with my mother for a petition to save the Square + fountain on Job’s Lane from being demolished. 💙💚🌊🧜🏼♀️🏄🏻♀️ #savejobslane ty @sagharborflorist
Mario, on the other hand, has been training in martial arts and recently received his black belt in karate. Cristina shared the boy’s milestone through an Instagram post where she boasted with pride writing:
“Mario, after almost 6 years of commitment, focus and will completed his black belt test.”

I’ve never been prouder as a mom than at this moment when my son, Mario, after almost 6 years of commitment, focus, and will completed his black belt test. Mario is a black belt now!!!! Here, the kohai is with his karate master, senpai Chadwick Simon. #dedication #amazingfeatsofstrength #gomario 💙
As a kid, Mario tested Chris’s parenting abilities because, for the CNN host, being a father to a boy was a difficult journey that he had to learn how to navigate.
Mario was sensitive and introverted, but still, he let Chris know if there was something he didn’t like. This led to a lot of headbutting between father and son.
Eventually, Chris said he had to let go of what he believed was the best to raise his son, listen to him, and let little Mario be his teacher. And that worked for them.
As for Carolina, or “ChaCha,” as her father calls her, she’s the athlete of the family. The adorable girl enjoys surfing and other sports, but her favorite is gymnastics.
She can be seen jumping, tumbling and cartwheeling on her mother’s page, and recently won the 1st place on the floor competition and 3rd place overall at the Manhattan Classic Gymnastics competition.
A HOME RULED BY KIDS
After her husband announced her COVID-19 diagnosis, Cristina took to Instagram on Thursday to share a heartfelt message for their children.
In the post, Cristina stated it was frustrating not to be able to be with her kids at the moment, but made sure to mention how the kids have “grown overnight.”

Every day is a gift. ♥️ Many have asked how Chris is doing and what meds he’s taking. Here’s an update: After one week of up and down symptoms—chills, body aches, total exhaustion, sleeplessness, and a fever that hit 103, he is on day 11 today, (day 1 being first day of allergy-like symptoms)—he seems slightly better, but still feels the incredible lethargy, with fever down to 99 for past 3 days. His Oxygen levels (tested daily on a finger Oximeter) were normal all week. He has maintained his sense of taste and smell, but not his usual hearty Italian appetite. His lungs were x-rayed yesterday and they were mostly clear. 💙 Thank you for amazing homemade goodies from friends and the outpouring of love + humor so many of you have provided. They are the oxygen for these biblical times. 🙏 .... CHRIS’ CORONA PROTOCOL—WEEK ONE, began March 30th when positive test came back: .... 🌼 FOR MEDICINE: I enlisted @drlindalancaster @lightharmonics , an Energy Medicine physician, who helped me cure my aggressive Lyme Disease last summer and who treated my mother for breast cancer 20 years ago. Her training is in Ayurveda, medical radiesthesia, radionics, energy healing, nutrition, herbal medicines and detoxification. Since this particular virus has no proven remedy, as Lyme does not, she assigned oxygenated herbs, natural remedies and homeopathics to strengthen Chris' immune system for the battle ahead. .... 🥗 FOR FOOD: The food plan I outlined was meant to cleanse his liver with whole, vital, organic foods so it can manage the viral die-off and provide him with much-needed energy, nutrients, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory properties, like basic chicken soup, + foods low in chemicals like pesticides. .... 🌞 FOR BREATHE + MOVEMENT: 30 minutes daily sunshine helps Vitamin D level. He has also been sitting in the @sunlightensaunas daily, which makes him feel better + has helped with his fever. He has been doing breathing (resonance) exercises everyday for his lungs (video in link), as well as walking around the yard 🌸 so he can get fluid flowing out of lungs. 💛 For all the info on CHRIS’ DAILY ANTI VIRALS + MY DIARY OF FOOD—WEEK ONE, see link in bio. #rebirth
Cristina said Bella has taken on the caretaker role by cleaning, doing laundry, and cooking for her siblings and making sure they keep attending their classes through google classroom, while also caring for Cristina and Chris.
Cristina also added that Mario has been Bella’s assistant, and expressed how grateful she is for how they’re taking the situation writing:
“So much gratitude for them. I can’t wait to wrap my arms around them again.”
Chris, on the other hand, joked in his interview with Anderson Cooper, saying that his home is now dependant on a 17-year-old and added, “this is now Lord of the Flies in my house. The kids are in control.”
