Chris Cuomo has been documenting his battle with COVID-19 through his weekly night show “Cuomo Prime Time,” which he streams from the basement of his home, where he has been self-quarantining.

The CNN journalist shared his diagnosis through an Instagram post, where he also mentioned that his worst fear was passing the disease to his wife and their three kids.

CHRIS’ FEARS BECOMES A REALITY

Sadly, Cristina Cuomo tested positive for the virus this week, as Chris revealed while talking with his brother, New York City Governor Andrew Cuomo, last Wednesday.

“Cristina now has COVID, she is now positive, and it just breaks my heart,” Chris explained. “It is the one thing I was hoping wouldn’t happen, and now it has.”

Although Chris revealed that he had gone a bit frantic over passing the virus to his wife, he assured everyone that Cristina is taking the diagnosis “in stride.”

Talking to Anderson Cooper and Dr. Sanjay Gupta on a CNN coronavirus townhall on Thursday, Chris revealed that Cristina’s symptoms were different from his, and he believes it is because she has a stronger immune system.

“She’s stronger than I am. She’s got a stronger immune system, a stronger constitution, and a stronger character,” Chris said of his wife, and continued describing her case:

“She lost her sense of smell and taste, but no fever. Sinus pressure in her head and a little bit of residual frustration at me.”

Now that the couple is quarantining separately, their kids are in charge of their home, especially their oldest daughter, who stepped up to take care not only of her sick parents but also of her siblings.

MEET THE CUOMO KIDS

Chris and Cristina Greeven got married on November 24, 2001, and they are the proud parents of three kids: Bella, 17, Mario, 14, and Carolina, 11.

At the time Chris announced Cristina was pregnant with their youngest one, the journalist joked, saying he would be “outnumbered.” However, he said the kids were the focus of his and Cristina's existence.

Bella, the oldest, seems to be the artist of the family. She has been in several stage productions, including “Chicago," “Mary Poppins,” and "Into the Woods," as seen on her mother’s Instagram.

The talented teenager has a powerful singing voice and stage presence that keeps the family entertained during holiday gatherings.

Mario, on the other hand, has been training in martial arts and recently received his black belt in karate. Cristina shared the boy’s milestone through an Instagram post where she boasted with pride writing:

“Mario, after almost 6 years of commitment, focus and will completed his black belt test.”

As a kid, Mario tested Chris’s parenting abilities because, for the CNN host, being a father to a boy was a difficult journey that he had to learn how to navigate.

Mario was sensitive and introverted, but still, he let Chris know if there was something he didn’t like. This led to a lot of headbutting between father and son.

Eventually, Chris said he had to let go of what he believed was the best to raise his son, listen to him, and let little Mario be his teacher. And that worked for them.

As for Carolina, or “ChaCha,” as her father calls her, she’s the athlete of the family. The adorable girl enjoys surfing and other sports, but her favorite is gymnastics.

She can be seen jumping, tumbling and cartwheeling on her mother’s page, and recently won the 1st place on the floor competition and 3rd place overall at the Manhattan Classic Gymnastics competition.

A HOME RULED BY KIDS

After her husband announced her COVID-19 diagnosis, Cristina took to Instagram on Thursday to share a heartfelt message for their children.

In the post, Cristina stated it was frustrating not to be able to be with her kids at the moment, but made sure to mention how the kids have “grown overnight.”

Cristina said Bella has taken on the caretaker role by cleaning, doing laundry, and cooking for her siblings and making sure they keep attending their classes through google classroom, while also caring for Cristina and Chris.

Cristina also added that Mario has been Bella’s assistant, and expressed how grateful she is for how they’re taking the situation writing:

“So much gratitude for them. I can’t wait to wrap my arms around them again.”

Chris, on the other hand, joked in his interview with Anderson Cooper, saying that his home is now dependant on a 17-year-old and added, “this is now Lord of the Flies in my house. The kids are in control.”
