"Love and Hip Hop" star Betty Idol is dedicated to finding justice for her late sister as she mourns her loss in a series of Instagram posts.
Betty Idol, also known as Salomé, has been mourning the death of her sister, Giselle "Gigi" Rengifo, since May 18. In a series of Instagram posts, the 30-year-old opened up about the pain the news of Gigi's death has caused her.
In one of the posts, which is a clip of the duo in the back of a car, Betty stated that she was choosing to believe that the former was vacationing in a better place.
The 17-year-old died after she suffered a gunshot wound to her head – she was pronounced dead at the scene after the arrival of authorities round 8:30 p.m.
The next posts included videos of the duo dancing to different songs and a picture of Gigi with their brother, Noah. Betty then asked for her fans to join her in seeking justice for the late teen in a post that came with some hashtags.
Narrating the events that occurred after she learned of her sister's passing, Betty stated in another Instagram post that after she made several calls to the police stations and hospitals.
She eventually got through to a detective that informed her that Gigi had been killed by somebody she considered a friend. The reality TV star closed the statement by writing:
"There are people saying there is another side to this story and I'm going to find out THE TRUTH & make sure my sister gets #JUSTICE!"
Gigi's death was considered the result of an accidental discharge of a handgun after authorities questioned the people who were in the house with the late teen.
The site added that the gun had been in the hand of 17-year-old Michael McGowan when it got fired, and he was subsequently charged with manslaughter with a deadly weapon.
Daily Mail further noted that despite the arrest and charge of Michael, Gigi's family have claimed that her death wasn't incidental. Betty herself alleged that the people who were with Gigi at the time of her demise were hiding the truth about what really transpired.
Although she made appearances as herself on "Exposed and Unfiltered: Part 1," "Exposed and Unfiltered: Part 2," "Final Outcome," and "Lovers or Friends?" IMDB revealed that Betty is best known for her time on "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta."
