Actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson, best known as Mitchell Pritchett in "Modern Family," has been in a loving relationship with his husband, Justin Mikita, for years. They are about to become parents for the first time!
Ferguson, born in October 1975, met Mikita at a gym in West Hollywood. Although the former was already involved in the entertainment industry, he was not as famous as he is nowadays.

JESSE TYLER FERGUSON AND JUSTIN MIKITA'S RELATIONSHIP
Justin Mikita, a law student at the time, had just seen the pilot of "Modern Family" and was surprised by Ferguson's character Mitchell Pritchett, a groundbreaking gay man in a monogamous relationship.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, on the other hand, was surprised by how "handsome" and "sweet" Mikita was, so he started talking to him and asking questions about him.
The actor believes that Mikita was "thrown off" by his questions, which is why he initially ran away. Fortunately for the now-married couple, they stay in touch through social media. Eventually, Ferguson invited him to dinner. Mikita explained:
"I was like, 'Full disclosure: I'm in a relationship, but I'd love to get a drink with you as a friend.' And he said, 'I have enough friends,' which I loved."
Almost a year later, they ran into each other again at the gym. This time, Mikita was single, and they gave their relationship a try. In late 2010, they started dating, and they have been together ever since.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita have successfully managed to work together on different projects. Since Mikita used to work for the American Foundation for Equal Rights, he asked for Ferguson's help to lobby for same-sex marriage.
THEY RUN AN NGO TOGETHER
Later, in 2012, they launched their non-profit organization, Tie the Knot. Initially, they only sold bow ties, but now they also sell cufflinks and invitations. Through their NGO, they have raised over $1 million for LGBTQ causes.
In September 2012, the couple surprised the world, announcing that they had gotten engaged! Ferguson and Mikita shared the big news through a YouTube video that also served as an introduction to their organization.
After sharing a few details of Tie the Knot, Ferguson called Mikita his "lover," a title that the lawyer didn't like. The actor then hilariously tried to find a word that perfectly described his and Mikita's relationship.
"Partner," "fellah," and "concubine" were some of the labels that he used before finally calling him his "fiancé." Ferguson then pointed out that he had indeed "popped the big Q," and Mikita joined him to revealed that he had accepted.
FERGUSON AND MIKITA'S WEDDING
In July 2013, Justin Mikita officially became Jesse Tyler Ferguson's husband after tying the knot in New York City. During an interview that the actor had with Ellen DeGeneres in her show, he revealed that they got married on probably the hottest day of all time.
Ferguson then revealed that he was sweating as he was getting married, but not precisely because of the temperature.
Now that "Modern Family" has come to its end after 11 seasons, Ferguson has accepted a new challenge in his career and became the host of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
It is not the first time that he was involved in a property-related project, though. Back in 2018, the actor gave Architectural Digest a tour through his own Spanish Colonial home, and it's nothing short of amazing.
JUSTIN MIKITA AND JESSE TYLER FERGUSON'S UPCOMING BABY
In January 2020, Jesse Tyler Ferguson announced that he and his husband were expecting their first child together!
The big revelation came in the middle of an interview with James Corden on his show. In it, they were talking about the psychological impact that turning 40 has on a person.
Ferguson pointed out that he considered that a person finally becomes an adult when they turn 40 as they start getting "serious" about the things in your life. He then said:
"I'm actually expecting a baby in July with my husband. […] I'm very excited, but it feels, like, I'm 44 now. I'm like, 'let's get the show going!'"
At the moment, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and has been free of cancer for 15 years, are happily waiting for their upcoming child to join their family.
