Several African-American stars have continued to open up about their experiences with police officers following the death of George Floyd while in police custody.

Niecy Nash became the latest to join those celebrities after she told Hollywood Reporter about an incident that occurred when her son, Dominic, got stopped by the authorities recently.

Niecy had shared a lesson from her marriage to Jay Tucker when she said, “The thing that marriage has taught me about loving someone else, is that love is selfless.”

The mother of three narrated that after her 28-year-old son was stopped, the officers “pulled a taser on him for a rolling stop.” They subsequently asked him questions about the T-Mobile shirt he had on as they wanted to know how he could afford his car if he worked at T-Mobile.

The actress, who also has two grown daughters, said that before George’s death, she used to tell her son that if he complied with the authorities, any wrongdoing could be fixed later.

However, that is no longer the case as she has no idea what to tell her son anymore as George had died even though he appeared to comply with the authorities. Niecy had previously shown her humanitarian side when she announced that the cast of “Reno 911!” would make a $10,000 donation to the late George’s family.

According to People Magazine, the actress made the announcement during an appearance on “Good Morning America” where she said that she was “devastated” by Floyd’s passing.

Prior to the news of Floyd's death, Essence reported that Niecy had shared a lesson from her marriage to Jay Tucker when she said, “The thing that marriage has taught me about loving someone else, is that love is selfless.”

The actress, who got married to Jay in May 2011, further explained that couples would have a better time together if they stopped putting pressure on themselves and each other.

Niecy’s advice seemed to resonate with many of her fans who believed that she and her man had it all. Thus, they were shocked when the actress and her husband of eight years announced that they were going their separate ways in October 2019.

Cheat Sheet revealed that even though the pair didn’t address the reason for their split, many have assumed that Niecy’s busy film schedule played a role in it.

Whatever the reason for their split, the “Never Have I Ever” star officially filed for divorce in December 2019 and it didn’t take long before the divorce was finalized.
