Why GMA's Robin Roberts Calls Longtime Partner 'Sweet Amber'

Robin Roberts' girlfriend, Amber Laign, is a lovely person, and in an Instagram post, Roberts once revealed one of the many romantic gestures she enjoys from Laign.

"Good Morning America" host Robin Roberts has been in a relationship with Amber Laign for over a decade, and last year, she explained why she calls her beau "Sweet Amber."

In a video shared on Instagram, Roberts and Laign were seen having a romantic outdoor movie date during a vacation to Maldives Islands.

Watching a movie playing on the big screen at the edge of a pool, the adorable couple laid in bed right across the screen.

While filming the clip, Roberts explained that Laign organized the movie date, which was one of the many reasons she chose to call her "Sweet Amber." Taking to her caption, Roberts wrote:

"Well, little did I know that before we arrived, sweet Amber had already made arrangements..."

Shortly after sharing the video, fans and followers took to the comment section where they gushed about the romantic gesture.

One user wrote, "So sweet and romantic," while another added, "So glad you found each other❤" Several other users also pointed out how blessed Roberts was to have a partner like Laign.

Although Roberts publicly came out as gay in December 2013, she had been dating Laign since 2005.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Roberts has been hosting "Good Morning America" from her basement and has continuously shared the spotlight with her puppy, Lukas.

Taking to Instagram in April, Roberts sat alongside Lukas while she read an inspirational message from her devotional.

Earlier in January, Laign lost her father, and Roberts shared the news with her fans in a sweet tribute. Sharing a picture of the father-daughter duo, she wrote, "He called her his crown jewel. Humbling asking for your prayers during this most difficult time."

A few weeks later, Roberts gave an update about Laign, whom she reportedly revealed was handling the situation well. Although Roberts publicly came out as gay in December 2013, she had been dating Laign since 2005.

Some months after coming out, the couple made their first public appearance at the 11th Annual GLSEN Respect Awards, recognizing those who make efforts towards the safekeeping of the LGBTQ students in all schools.

While Roberts and Laign prefer to keep their relationship private, there is no doubt that the two lovers are head over heels in love.

With a 30-year-long career in broadcasting, Roberts has made a name for herself as one of America's best television personalities.

Recently, Roberts reportedly revealed that she would tell her younger self to pursue all of her goals because, one day, people were going to be interested in hearing her story.
