The Blast: Kelly Clarkson's Decision to Divorce Brandon Blackstock Leaves Her Friends Stunned

Kelly Clarkson reportedly left her loved ones stunned following her decision to walk away from her marriage to Brandon Blackstock after almost seven years ago.

The Blast has provided an update about the Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock's marriage following its initial report that the former filed for divorce on June 4 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Sources close to the couple informed the media outlet that the singer-songwriter's decision to leave her marriage was shocking to her loved ones as she and Brandon didn't show any sign of trouble.

Kelly and Brandon got married in October 2013 at Blackberry Farms in Tennessee, and the former shared a series of videos and images of the event on social media.

According to ET Online, the singer-songwriter listed "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split as she asked the court to grant her joint legal and physical custody.

Kelly also noted that she doesn't want her soon-to-be ex-husband to be awarded spousal support and is asking for their prenuptial agreement to be put into place. The mother of two added that she has no plans to ask for spousal support from Brandon.

Fans were doubly shocked as Brandon recently wished Kelly a heartfelt happy birthday on her talk show with a touching clip that featured their children.

The "American Idol" star's daughter, River Rose, started the video with a promise to love and sing for her mother. Kelly's son, Remington Alexander, was up next with the birthday wishes before Brandon's 13-year-old son from a previous relationship, Seth, spoke.

As regards the split, a source told ET Online that Brandon and Kelly's marriage had been in trouble for months and had only gotten worse as they social distanced in their home.

The insider stated that despite their troubles, the couple had made conscious efforts to work things out. The couple had even believed that "quarantining away from LA in Montana would help them work things out in their marriage, but instead, the change in environment was actually detrimental."
