“It's getting better, the surgery worked. But a lot of people have complications, I did too, so I have to have cataract surgery.”

Although the surgery doesn’t require her to go to a hospital, the “Today” host would not be able to do it immediately as she has to wait for the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to come to an end.

Today reported that after Ellen joked that her predicament was part of the “unexpected consequence” of being a parent, Savannah talked about how it felt to be working from the basement of an upstate New York house.

The journalist, who has been quarantining with her husband, Michael Feldman, and their two children, said she was just thankful that she is still able to do her job.

Just as Savannah delayed her eye surgery, her “Today” co-host, Hoda Kotb, also had to put her wedding to her fiancé, Joel Schiffman, on hold. Hoda, who appeared alongside Savannah on Ellen’s show, revealed that:

“It was a destination wedding, which meant people getting on planes, so we’re kind of holding out to see what could happen.”

ET Canada noted that Hoda explained that the location that they planned to use was “turning into one of the [coronavirus] hotspots, so it looks like we may have to postpone. We’re kind of bummed about that.”

During another part of the interview, Hoda and Savannah explained that their current experience of being away from each other during the pandemic has shown them that they are the perfect “Today” match.
