Jesse Tyler Ferguson Welcomes 1st Child with Husband Justin Mikita – Inside Their Love Story

“Modern Family’s” Jesse Tyler Ferguson, 44, recently welcomed his first child with his husband, Justin Mikita. The news was confirmed by Ferguson’s representative.

According to Ferguson’s representative, he and Mikita, 34, welcomed a son, Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita, on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. The representative revealed how the husbands were taking the milestone saying:

"The new parents are overjoyed and excited for this new journey as a family of three."

ANNOUNCING THEY ARE EXPECTING

The actor actually confessed that he was expecting his first child in January 2020. At the time, he was on “The Late Late Show” with the host James Corden.

I was taken by how handsome Justin was – Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

He clearly couldn’t hold his excitement as he confessed that he hadn’t told anyone else up until that point. Ferguson joked that he hoped the secret would remain with him, fellow guest, Charlie Hunnam, Corden, and the audience.

WANTING TO HAVE KIDS

He shared: “I'm actually expecting a baby in July with my husband." The couple celebrated the upcoming birth by hosting a baby shower with guests including “Modern Family” stars.

During an interview in 2017, Ferguson revealed that he and his husband were keen on being parents one day. The actor recalled how he was “taken by how handsome he [Mikita] was and how sweet” he was when they met.

WHERE THE COUPLE MET

Their meeting occurred at the gym in Equinox, West Hollywood, when Mikita was still a law student. The actor, who was just in the early days of working on “Modern Family,” “started asking questions about” Mikita causing him to distance himself a bit.

CHATTING ON TWITTER

However, the pair stayed in touch via Twitter and Ferguson asked him out for dinner. At the time, Mikita was in a relationship and offered to be Ferguson’s friend but the actor wasn’t keen on that.

STARTING TO DATE

Then ten months later, they ran into each other at the gym again and Mikita happened to be single. They officially started dating in 2010.

GETTING ENGAGED

The actor and lawyer got engaged in 2012 during a vacation in Mexico. In July 2013, Ferguson and Mikita got married with a ceremony held in downtown New York City.

Playwright Tony Kushner was given the task of officiating their nuptials. In 2018, the pair celebrated their five-year wedding anniversary with Mikita taking to Twitter to post a lovely photo with Ferguson.
