Bindi Irwin Shares Tear-Jerking Wedding Photo Art Featuring Her Late Dad Steve Irwin
Bindi Irwin found ways to include her father, the late Steve Irwin, on her wedding day, including her latest share of a special gift she and her groom received that “means the world” to her.
Wedding celebrations turned into an intimate affair, as Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell tied the knot amid the novel coronavirus pandemic on March 25, 2020. For her special day, Bindi included her late father and conservationist Steve Irwin in as many ways as she could.

HOW BINDI INCLUDED HER FATHER
The couple held their ceremony at the Australia Zoo, and apart from Bindi’s mother, Terry and her brother Bob, Steve Irwin’s best friend Wes Mannion, was the only other person in attendance. Even so, the family found a way to include the passed patriarch in proceedings.
“We had Dad’s picture with his dog Sui blown up on an easel. So Mom and Robert were standing right next to Dad as we exchanged vows,” Bindi previously said. “We had a candle-lighting ceremony for him, and it really felt like he was there with us. It was a lovely moment of peace and happiness.”
THE SPECIAL GIFT
But now, several months after the big day, Bindi shared a special gift she received with her followers on social media. Working from an original photo taken on their wedding day, The Monkey Brush artist Debb Oliver created an artwork that included Steve Irwin on the wedding day.
Posting a picture of the thoughtful artwork on social media, it showed Steve Irwin dressed in his khakis, standing between the two women in his life - his wife Terri on the right, and Bindi on his right, as they all smiled broadly for the camera with the caption:
"My family. Our wedding day. This artwork gave me happy tears. Thank you to ‘The Monkey Brush’ for a beautiful piece, it means the world to me."
HOW THEIR LOVE STORY BEGAN
Bindi and Chandler dated for six years before he popped the question on Bindi’s 21st birthday last year, and it all began when the professional wakeboarder went to Australia Zoo for a visit.
Chandler went to the land down under for a national wakeboarding competition back in 2003, and he joined in on a tour through the zoo. It just so happened that Bindi gave the tour that day, and she blew him away.
He “immediately fell head over heels” for Bindi, and he ended up proposing under the watchful eyes of the animals in her favorite spot in the zoo.
WHEN STEVE IRWIN DIED
“The Crocodile Hunter” died three years after Bindi and Chandler met while filming a new documentary just of the coast of Queensland, Australia.
On September 4, 2006, Steve went snorkeling when a nearby stingray’s barb pierced his chest. Shortly after being stung, Steve died from cardiac arrest.
HONEYMOON ON ICE
With social-distancing regulations in place, the newlyweds had to put their honeymoon plans on hold, but Chandler Powell made sure to do something special for his bride.
The professional wakeboarder decided to surprise Bindi with a romantic picnic, complete with champagne and snacks at the place in the zoo they initially wanted to get married.
