The former wrestler celebrated along with his son and mother a meal prepared by the boys and a cake to honor her.
David Otunga, singer Jennifer Hudson’s ex-fiancé, spent a weekend of family parties. Together with their son, David Otunga Jr., 9, they created memories by celebrating the birthday of his mother and the boy's grandmother amid pandemic isolation.
To celebrate, David Jr was in charge of making and decorating the birthday cake which was recorded on video. As for the food, grilled chicken legs delighted the family.
Otunga wrote on his Instagram: “Pics from my mom’s birthday party! David baked her one of his signature cakes and I smoked some chicken. We love you Granna!”

LEGAL BATTLE
Otunga and Hudson were together for almost ten years. Sadly, they parted ways amid mutual accusations of infidelity and physical abuse. Immediately, they began a legal battle for the custody of the child.
Hudson's first action was taken by demanding a restraining order against Otunga for alleged abuse. After the police investigated the complaint, her ex-partner was acquitted of the charge. For two years after their separation, both have lobbied for full custody of their son.
WELFARE AGREEMENT
After going to court for more than two years, with various accusations, Hudson and Otunga finally reached an agreement for the better interest of David Jr. In the agreement, in addition to defining the terms of visits and maintenance, conditions were set regarding social interaction or dating while the child is with them.
One of the conditions of the agreement says that none of them will be able to have a night guest or a romantic relationship with another person in the time that corresponds to being physically present with their child. They can present themselves with their romantic partners to David Jr. only when it is a serious and stable relationship.
NOT EVERYTHING WAS RESOLVED
However, there are points that the former couple had not settled yet. Disputes over the amount of child support and certain moments of studies and visits followed.
But apparently they have stopped airing it in court and are running things calmly and with maturity.
The visit of David Jr. to his father and grandmother and his happy face around them is a sign that when parents put aside their mutual feelings and focus on those of their children, the separation process can be less painful and children can develop and grow happily and peacefully.
