Roger Federer Surprises Sisters Who Played Tennis on a Rooftop during Quarantine –– Details of Their Get Together

The story started the moment a video of two girls playing tennis over their house buildings’ rooftop went viral. As soon as one of the best tennis players in the world knew about it, he went to play with them.

In an attempt to surprise the two young Italian girls from Liguria, whose video went viral by playing tennis on the rooftop of their buildings, 38-year-old Swiss tennis player, Roger Federer, went over to their unique court to play with them.

13-year-old, Vittoria, and her friend, 11-year-old, Carola’s video went viral after being posted on Facebook to show their Tennis Club teacher, where they are both members, how they were training from home during quarantine.

When the 20-time Grand Slam winner knew about how these girls were coping with their desire to play amid coronavirus pandemic, he teamed up with company Barilla to gave them a very special surprise: to show up at their rooftop and play with them

THE MEETING

As the girls were being interviewed, they both said that Federer was their favorite player. Carola explained that she would like to have the Swiss player’s elegance, while Vittoria said that she would jump if she saw him.

While they believed it was another press meeting, just like many other they had after the video went viral, Federer, who was previously hiding behind a curtain, appeared next to them, and when they both realized it was their idol standing in front of them, they could not believe it.

THE MATCH

As Vittoria and Carola stood speechless, the No.4 in the world said “Shall we have some fun? Ready to play?,” and both youngsters could not resist the invitation. The video continues with the girls’ own recordings of their experience, showing how excited they felt about the meeting.

After deciding which court (or rooftop) would take each, the three of them engaged in a nice and fun match that included a car being hit by one of the balls. On the experience, Federer explained how pleased he felt about it.

"I have played in many cool places around the world. But this is definitely for me as a special experience. We showed that we can play anywhere and have fun with it. I had the best time, honestly," Federer shared.

After the friendly match was over, the trio went for a nice talk over a delicious pasta. However, in the end, Federer offered Vittoria and Carola two spots in the Rafael Nadal Academy for the summer, as he prompted the girls to pack very soon.
