See Lionel Richie's Sweet Post to 'American Idol' Colleague Katy Perry on Birth of Baby Daisy
Katy Perry welcomed her first child on August 26, 2020. Her “American Idol” colleague, Lionel Richie, is one of the people who took to social media to congratulate the singer.
A day after Katy Perry, 35, welcomed her daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, her “American Idol” co-judge, Lionel Richie shared a congratulatory message on Instagram. Sharing two images of himself and the pop star, Richie congratulated her on becoming a parent.
He also noted: “Being a parent is one of the greatest joys life can bring!” The legendary musician shared how excited he was for Perry and her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, 43, to start on their journey of parenthood.

He wished the couple and their newborn “all the best.” Richie concluded his post by sending his love to the new family of three.
Perry and Bloom announced the birth of their child with a post by UNICEF. The pair serves as Goodwill Ambassadors for the organization.
CELEBRATING DAISY’S SAFE BIRTH
The singer and actor shared their gratitude for a safe birth for the newborn baby. They praised UNICEF for making safe births possible amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.
Besides his daughter, Bloom is also a father to son, Flynn, 9. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor shares the boy with his ex-wife and supermodel Miranda Kerr, 37.
KERR & STARS CONGRATULATE COUPLE
Kerr showed she had no hard feelings against the couple when she congratulated them on the birth of their daughter. She responded to Bloom’s announcement sharing how happy she was for the couple.
Other celebrities also took to the comments section or social media in general to congratulate the happy couple. People like Josh Brolin, Millie Bobby Brown, and Justin Theroux, all wrote congratulatory notes.
ENGAGEMENT & PREGNANCY
Perry and Bloom were engaged last February after dating on-and-off for several years. In March 2020, the “Smile” vocalist announced that she was pregnant.
She made the revelation in the debut video of her song, "Never Worn White." The pop singer appeared in the video cradling her growing baby bump and the next month, she and her fiancé revealed they were having a baby girl.
JUDGES RETURN TO “AMERICAN IDOL”
Last week, the network that hosts “American Idol,” ABC, announced that Perry, Richie, and Luke Bryan would all be returning for the upcoming season. The next season would be the fourth time that the singing competition airs on ABC.

The competition initially aired on the Fox network. The show’s host, Ryan Seacrest was also announced as returning on the reality competition series.
