Strong Move: Halle Berry Seeks to Represent Herself in Divorce Case with Ex Olivier Martinez

Halle Berry and her ex-husband Olivier Martinez are currently locked in a divorce case and the actress wants to represent herself in the proceedings.

Famous Hollywood actress Halle Berry wants to represent herself in the divorce proceedings between her and ex-husband Olivier Martinez.

Online publication "ET" obtained court documents that showed that the 54-year-old actress filed to represent herself in the divorce case instead of having an attorney represent her.

In the court documents, Berry's former attorney, Marina Zakiyan Beck signed off on the change on July 30 while the actress did the same on August 11.

Meanwhile, Martinez, who shares 6-year-old son Maceo with Berry, is represented on the case by Laura Wasser, a celebrity attorney.

The former couple filed for divorce in October 2015. Their separation came after two years of marriage. They cited irreconcilable differences and both asked for joint custody of Maceo.

In a joint statement after the announcement, the couple said that their decision to divorce was a difficult one to make. Berry and Martinez said that they would go ahead with love for each other, focusing on what was best for their son.

After her separation from Martinez, Berry needed a long period to reflect before dating someone else.

The decision by Berry to represent herself is a final step in her divorce case with Martinez. It was earlier reported that the former lovebirds finalized their divorce in 2016, though a later report showed there was no formal custody arrangement for Maceo.

In October 2018, the former couple reunited in Los Angeles for Maceo's Halloween-themed 5th birthday party held at the Coop.

The proud parents organized the party for their son and it turned out to be quite an experience for Maceo and the kids in attendance.

The venue had everything in it. There was a petting zoo from Reptacular Animals and activities from "Mini & Me Crafts." There were also cupcakes to enjoy from "Blue Cupcake."

Berry's separation from Martinez marked the latest in her number of breakups and legal battles. Martinez was her third husband after initial marriages to David Justice and Eric Benet also ended in divorce.

The actress also shares a daughter with a former partner, Gabriel Aubry, who she dated from 2005 to 2010. Her number of divorce cases and failed relationships has got many people wondering what the problem could be.

A friend close to the "John Wick: Parabellum" actress told the New York Post that Berry has always looked for alpha males in her previous relationships.

The friend added that after her separation from Martinez, Berry needed a long period to reflect before dating someone else.
