As the world stands still amid the coronavirus pandemic, Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews’ relationship continued to grow.

Recently, the NFL star asked his girlfriend of nearly a decade to spend the rest of her life with him. Their love story is one for the books.

HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEARTS

The couple first crossed paths in Whitehouse High School, Texas, where they began dating in tenth grade. Although they went to separate colleges, their relationship stood strong.

One thing that bonded the pair was their love for sports. Matthews went to the University of Texas, where she attained a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and played soccer while Mahomes played football at Texas Tech University.

The athletes continued their sports after graduating as Matthews signed for UMF Afturelding/Fram, where she won a league championship, while Mahomes joined the Kansas City Chiefs.

WORKING TOGETHER

Although she no longer plays as a professional athlete, Matthews still works in line with building a stronger physique. She runs the fitness company Brittany Lynne Fitness and creates programs as a certified personal trainer.

She has been keeping in touch with clients by promoting fitness through home workouts posted online, where her boyfriend stepped in to help.

LIVING TOGETHER

In 2019, the couple purchased a Mission Hills home in Kansas for $1.925 million and renovated it to their ideal home.

Living in Kansas was a decision based on Mathews and Mahomes’ experience and love for the people there. Together, they are parents to two dogs, Steel and Silver.

In one of her posts, the health guru shared a glimpse of their afternoon stroll with Steel and Silver. “My world, my family, my best friends,” she wrote.

On September 1, 2020, the star quarterback knelt on one knee and asked his longtime partner to marry him. Their special moment was captured and shared online, including a story of the proposal.

Mahomes reportedly proposed at the Arrowhead Stadium after he received his Super Bowl ring. “On a day that was meant to celebrate you, you turned it into celebrating us,” Mathews wrote.

Several friends and fans congratulated the couple through the comments section and sent them well wishes for the months leading up to their big day.
