The songwriter was set to perform her song "Betty" live for the first time at the ACM Awards. According to Swift on "Country Radio," the song title was named after celebrity couple Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's third daughter, Betty, born in October 2019.
The ACM Awards, which was initially planned to be an all-star event in Las Vegas in April, was suspended due to the ongoing pandemic.
The song "Betty" was written by Swift in the perspective of a 17-year-old boy who lost the love of his life and did not know how to get it back.
The "Blank Space" musician's performance at the ACM Awards marked her first live performance of a song in her new album, "Folklore" and her first performance in seven years at a country show.
Fellow country singer Luke Bryan, in an interview with "ET," said he knew Swift would be the highlight of the show as she was someone who knew not only how to behave towards fans but also how to work hard in the music industry.
The two-time ACM entertainer of the year winner did not disappoint, as her performance at the Grand Ole Opry House, one of three legendary Nashville venues used for the 2020 ACM Awards, was phenomenal.
Swift performed "Betty" as a solo act, seated on a stool with her guitar on the stage lit by a spotlight in the dimmed room and stunned fans watching at home with her beautiful voice.
The ACM Awards, which was initially planned to be an all-star event in Las Vegas in April, was suspended due to the ongoing pandemic.
The ACM Awards show was finally held on Wednesday, September 16, in Nashville, Tennessee, as a small-scale, socially distant event.
Despite being a blend of live and pre-recorded portions of the performances held at three different venues in Nashville, celebrities like Taylor Swift, Kelsea Ballerini, and Maren Morris managed to make the red carpet lively with their colorful outfits.
More about the hit song "Betty," Swift revealed during a live session with fans on the night of "Folklore's"release that there was a compilation of songs she referred to as "The Teenage Love Triangle."
The three songs in the triangle were "Cardigan," "August," and "Betty." According to the nine-time ACM Award winner, the three love songs were focused on a love triangle told from three individuals' perspectives at different moments in their lives.
