Taylor Swift Makes History After Bagging 2020 VMAs Best Director Award

On the 30th of August, Taylor Swift took home her first MTV VMA in the Best Director category for directing "The Man."

Star singer and songwriter, Taylor Swift adds 'another shiny object to an already glowing trophy cabinet' as she bags the VMAs best director award.

MTV’s official Twitter page posted the singer's heartwarming acceptance speech from her home as they congratulated her with the caption:

"Congrats to @taylorswift13 on winning Best Direction! #GirlPower #VMAs."

The famous singer took home a VMA for Best Direction at the 2020 VMAs. While accepting the award from her home in a simple blue shirtdress, she expressed her gratitude, said this was the first time she was directing a video on her own.

Taylor is also going down in history as the first female solo artist to win the best direction award.

She also thanked her team and everyone in the industry who voted for her. Taylor didn't forget her fans, saying they are why the industry cares about her as she thanked them for everything.

In the award-winning video, the singer was transformed into a bearded brunette man. Throughout the video, the central theme was his unruly behavior.

According to reports, the talented artists admitted this year didn't go according to how she planned it but the only thing that worked out as planned was her surprise album, "Folklore."

And after it's release, the album successfully gained Taylor, her 7th No. 1 album. Amazingly, "Folklore's" debut in July beat Taylors 2019 No. 1 album "Lover" debut record.

Taylor is also going down in history as the first female solo artist to win the best direction award. Triumphing over her fellow contenders, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, and The Weeknd for the award.

And on Tuesday, the award-winning director released a new clip showed the details of how her debut directing project of “The Man” came together.

Reports also say that during an on-camera interview, Taylor explained that she wanted a female director, but everyone was busy, so she decided to try it out since she knew what she wanted.

Taylor is also seen giving directions to her team and her director of photography Rodrigo Prieto in the clip. She expressed that she had quite an experience during the three days the video was shot.
