MOURNING HIS DEATH
Takada’s fashion brand celebrated his life and mourned him in a separate post. The brand shared a throwback image of the fashion designer painting a mural of his face.
Kenzo Takada grew up very passionate about sewing and drawing.
In an ode to him, the brand also revealed how contagious the star’s energy, talent, smile, and kindness were. “Kenzo” vowed that the founder’s kindred spirit would live forever and offered him a peaceful rest.
WHAT KILLED KENZO
At the time of his death, Takada was in Paris, France, according to his spokesperson told a French newspaper. The spokesperson shared how the fashion designer died from complications from the novel coronavirus disease.
Last Wednesday, designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista premiered “Kenzo’s” spring/summer 2021 collection at the Paris Fashion Week. Takada was born in Himeji near Osaka on February 27, 1939.
HOW HE STARTED HIS CAREER
The fashion designer grew up very passionate about sewing and drawing. These were skills that were taught to his sisters and not him.
In 1965, he arrived in Marseilles by boat where he planned to stay for six months. Instead, the fashion designer ended up moving to Paris and staying there for 56 years.
LAUNCHING HIS 1ST COLLECTION
Four years later, Takada launched his first collection from his boutique in the Galerie Vivienne. In 1976, he moved nearby Place des Victoires and opened his Paris fashion house.
The designer started off with feminine lines before branching into menswear, perfumes, and so much more. His spokesperson said the star is survived by his family in Japan.
LAGERFELD’S DEATH
Another famous fashion designer who died in the last two years is Karl Lagerfeld. The creative director of Chanel, Fendi, and the Karl Lagerfeld line passed away last February at age 85.
The news came several weeks after Lagerfeld missed Chanel’s spring 2019 haute couture show in Paris on January 22, 2019. This led to reports that he was suffering from poor health.
