The actress feels lucky to have been a part of a series that revolved around a universally accepted Black family. Many fans of the show might not know this, but it was initially canceled by ABC after the first season.

UPN took the opportunity to take the show and the stars were hopeful that the network would push boundaries, just like it did with its other shows from time to time, and unlike many historical Black shows, "The Hughleys" had blatant race-related storylines.
