62-year-old TV host, actress, and comedian Ellen DeGeneres was among the many Hollywood celebrities and public figures that commemorated National Coming Out Day in social media on October 11, 2020.

To mark the occasion, DeGeneres took to her Instagram profile to share a snapshot of herself as she is hugged from the rear by her wife of 12 years, 47-year-old actress Portia de Rossi at their shared home’s kitchen.

“Happy #NationalComingOutDay! Here’s to celebrating coming out while we’re all staying in,” DeGeneres captioned the lovely image, on which the couple wears matching black tops.

While de Rossi looked at the camera and wore a hoodie over her head, DeGeneres kept her short blonde hair uncovered as she looked to one side with a visible smile.

ET contacted a member of the show’s staff who shared that things seem to be going better between DeGeneres and her staff and crew.

De Rossi wore blue denim shorts that left her toned, slender legs visible, and was barefoot, while DeGeneres, true to her signature style, wore blue jeans with white snickers.

Some of DeGeneres’ fans were very happy and proud to see the iconic member of the LGTBQ+ community standing out for it, and they took to the comments section of the post to send positive messages to the star.

“You have inspired me to come out. I love you, Ellen!!” a user wrote. “Hi, Ellen. Thanks for being a role model for me and so many others,” added another person.

DEALING WITH ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HER

For most of 2020, DeGeneres not only has had to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced her to stay at home for months and to air her show from there, but she has also faced allegations of permitting a toxic environment in her namesake program.

But it was only on September 21, ahead of the premiere of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Season 18, when DeGeneres finally addressed the allegations, which have already prompted an investigation.

Apart from apologizing for what has been happening on the show’s set and behind the scenes, DeGeneres admitted her responsibility and place of privilege and said that she is working on her assumed impatience.

HER STAFF REACTS

Then, finally back at the TV studio after months of taping the show at home, DeGeneres once again addressed the allegations against her and explained that she is forbidden to talk directly to her accusers by the law.

“We have had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about our show, our workplace, and what we want for the future. We have made the necessary changes and today, we are starting a new chapter,” DeGeneres assured.

Following the inaugural monologue of the new season, ET contacted a member of the show’s staff who shared that things seem to be going better between DeGeneres and her staff and crew, with them reportedly applauding the TV host as she walked off the stage after addressing the issues.

“Ellen seems more open with staff. The vibe from all staff and crew in week one was more positive and enthusiastic,” the source claimed.
