The first picture showed Tennyson and their toddler son, Sutton Jr., having a father-son moment. The duo lay down peacefully on a couch as the little one yawned, looking handsome in a onesie. The next image showed a cute moment of the late dad and his son swimming.
In the caption to her post, Simmons said that she missed Tennyson and was sure that he is proud of their son, noting that he is everything they wanted. She wrote:
" 2 years later.... Been on my mind heavy. This time of year brings back so many emotions. Still missing you here. So thankful you left me with such a shining light..."
Fans wasted no time in offering encouragement to the 33-year-old. One fan consoled Simmons, stating that she found it inspiring that she could be this strong. Another fan sent her condolences and remarked that it was indeed challenging to forget such a painful memory.
Simmons tearfully narrated the moment she had to explain the difficult situation to her son when he asked if his father was alive.
Tennyson met an untimely end after being gunned down by an unknown assailant while sitting on his driveway in November 2018. The father of one was reportedly shot 13 times, and by the time the police arrived at the scene, his killer had already made his escape.
Since his death, very little is known about the identity of his murderer. Following recent reports, a man, Michael Williams, has been charged with murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm during a felony on the case.
Williams reportedly turned himself to the police. The news of Williams' arrest will go a long way to soothe the aching hearts of Tennyson's family, who have had to bear the pain of his unexpected loss.
It has not been particularly easy for Simmons, who reportedly broke down in tears after her three-year-old son quizzed her about his father.
Simmons tearfully narrated the moment she had to explain the difficult situation to her son when he asked if his father was alive. She said she was taken aback by the word "alive" because it was not in her son's everyday vocabulary.
The "Growing Up Hip Hop" star remarked that it was the most challenging conversation she has had with her son. Simmons was also saddened by the somber look on her son's face after learning of his dad's passing.
Although things might be hard, Simmons and her son will most likely find solace in all the documented memories of moments shared with Tennyson before his death.
