NBC Will Air New Production of 'The Grinch' Musical for the Holidays

In a press release, NBC announced that they will air a new production of the hit Christmas fantasy comedy "The Grinch," also known as "Dr. Seuss' The Grinch."

Doug Vaughan, the executive vice president of special programs at NBC, recently said that Dr. Seuss is a lasting part of people's lives, adding: "We're thrilled to bring a stage production of 'The Grinch Musical!' to our audience."

"This is a perfect addition to our annual holiday program traditions and a telecast the entire family will enjoy," Vaughan continued in his recent press release.

As reported by TODAY, the two-hour production of "Dr. Seuss' The Grinch Musical" is set to air on December 9 at 8 p.m ET. from the Troubadour Theatre in London.

The show will be headlined by Matthew Morrison as the grouchy Grinch. Morrison is known for starring in multiple Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.

In a video from the rehearsals that aired on Today, Morrison discussed bringing the musical together under the changes brought on by the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic.

Many other actors have voiced the Grinch in various animated features.

He explained that while the COVID-19 pandemic presents a few difficulties in bringing the stage musical to life, they are assembling an extraordinary show with some fun and creative things.

Many other actors have voiced the Grinch in various animated features. In 2018, the titular role was played by English actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who has received many awards such as Primetime Emmy Award and Laurence Olivier Award.

"The Grinch" follows the grouchy Grinch on his mission to steal Christmas from Whoville. The film, which originally came out in 1966, carries the universal theme of optimism and the Christmas spirit.

Meanwhile, in 2019, a woman from New Jersey took to social media to share an adorable video of her children getting scared by the Grinch during a photoshoot, as reported by Fox 59.

According to the outlet, the video has amassed thousands of views and some Internet users took to the comments section to share their own opinions about the clip.
