Actor Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka share 10-year-old twins Gideon Scott and Harper Grace. The actor, with his husband’s help, has effortlessly juggled career and parenting.

When not busy taping, "How I Met Your Mother" actor Neil Patrick Harris is a doting father to his children Gideon and Harper, whom he shares with husband, David Burtka.

Harris and Burtka, who welcomed the fraternal twins via surrogate in October 2010, have been putting their children at the top of their priorities.

The couple loves to go on adventures with their 10-year-old twins. In social media posts, the family can be seen enjoying fun bonding moments, including festive holiday celebrations.

Harris, 47, said that they always keep portable snacks in their household because they are always on the go. The pandemic has, however, interrupted their adventures.

The couple has been spending quarantine together with their children and two dogs amid the ongoing pandemic. They even had a health emergency earlier this year.

Harris revealed that his whole family had been infected by the coronavirus. The actor said he initially thought he only had the flu when he and his family contracted the dreaded COVID-19 in late March or early April of 2020. He said of the experience:

“It was not pleasant, but we got through it and have antibodies and are feeling good."

Amid the ongoing pandemic, Harris admitted that homeschooling their children has been a struggle for him and his husband. With schools closed due to the coronavirus, many parents have had to deal with the homeschooling setup.

But the actor has been vocal about his love of educating his children. In a 2018 interview, Harris talked about the importance of reading and how he has made it a key part of his life, especially now as a father.

The actor said that he and his husband have been reading to their twins since they brought them home from the hospital. He added that they read to them every night.

Addressing speculations around his private life, the actor said that he was a “content gay man.”

His love of reading led Harris to venture into fiction writing. He released his middle-grade novel “The Magic Misfits” in 2018. The book, which is set to be first in a four-part series, centers on the adventures of a young street magician named Carter.

Harris and Burtka, who is also an actor, met in New York in 2004 through a mutual friend. They had their first date at an “American Idol” viewing party.

In 2005, the couple moved to Los Angeles together after Harris landed the iconic role of Barney in the show, “How I Met Your Mother.” The show catapulted Harris to stardom.

The follower year, Harris publicly came out to People magazine. Addressing speculations around his private life, the actor said he was a “content gay man.”

Aside from “How I Met Your Mother,” Harris is also known for his role in the TV sitcom “Doogie Howser” as well as on stage productions “Rent,” and “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.”
