Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Trolled with an Avalanche of Comments after 'The Crown' Airs
Netflix's drama series "The Crown" has caused fans to rally against Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall after the show suggested she had an affair with Prince Charles.
Camilla became the Duchess of Cornwall when she married the heir apparent to the British throne, Prince Charles. The Duchess became a villainess to fans of Netflix's "The Crown" after the series portrayed her as the Prince's mistress during his marriage to the late Princess Diana.
On November 20, a picture of Camilla was uploaded on the royal family's Instagram in honor of the 2020 Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition. The image showed the Duchess in a polka-dot outfit paired with a pearl necklace.

However, the harmless post received several cruel comments from fans. Some fans showed their support to the late Princess by writing her name with a heart emoji or indicating that her memory would live on forever. The post's lengthy caption read:
"The 2020 competition was launched last year by The Duchess of Cornwall during a writing workshop at Tūranga library in New Zealand."

Despite what fans believed, sources claimed that the events portrayed on "The Crown" were historically incorrect including the alleged affair. Royal experts have also denied the series' allegations and stated that the affair never occurred.
Prince Charles and Camilla were reportedly not in contact during his marriage to Diana until 1986 and the British heir has previously disclosed on TV that his marriage at that period had "irretrievably broken down."
Earlier in November, the Duchess and her husband traveled to Germany to commemorate the National Day of Mourning for war victims. This marked their first overseas trip since the pandemic began.
They attended the "Central Remembrance Ceremony and a wreath-laying ceremony" in Berlin. The Prince also gave a statement where he expressed his wish to keep the "British-German" bond strong for years to come.

The Duchess of Cornwall is also keeping their marriage strong as sources have disclosed that she watches "The Crown" despite the series portraying her as the Prince's longtime mistress and the cause of his failed marriage.
Camilla is played by Emerald Fennell on the Netflix series and sources claimed she's curious about her "on-screen persona" and unbothered about the allegations because she has a "wonderful sense of humor."
