"The Big Bang Theory" star Johnny Galecki and Alaina Meyer reportedly called it quits following a year she called the "gnarliest" of her life, and with their son's first birthday just around the corner.

Celebrities Alaina Meyer and Johnny Galecki reportedly ended their relationship, according to a source that spoke with PEOPLE, but the pair continue to co-parent Avery, their young son, whose first birthday is on December 4.

Meyer, who works as a model, is more than two decades Galecki's junior, who became a first-time dad aged 44 with their son's birth. Despite the quick development of their relationship, it appears that they never got to the point of moving in together before they parted ways.

ONCE UPON A TIME

In August 2018, signs of Meyer and Galecki's budding romance showed when they enjoyed a Tahiti Beach vacation together in the Bahamas. The following month, the pair went Instagram official.

Their red carpet debut came shortly after at the 2018 E! People's Choice Awards, and posts of the pair enjoying their time together became commonplace on their social media.

STARTING A FAMILY

Meyer's pregnancy announcement came in May 2019, followed by Avery's birth in December last year. Overcome with joy, Galecki shared the wonderful news of his son's arrival at the time and wrote:

"With full and grateful hearts we welcome our beautiful Avery into this incredible world. Thank you for all of your love and support."

Recently, Galecki and Meyer have been absent from each other's social media pages. Their last posts together were both in April 2020, in celebration of the Easter holiday.

SINCE THEIR SPLIT

However, the Easter holidays became the last time Meyer and Galecki appeared in social media posts together and remained absent from each other's pages since. Late last month, Meyer opened up about her experience of events this year in celebration of Avery's first birthday and wrote:

"This has been the gnarliest year of my life, with the highest highs and the lowest lows."

Following the breakup, Galecki took solace in the company of friend and fellow musician Randy Houser, whose band he started drumming in a few years ago. The pair enjoy hanging out together on the family farm, especially when they have their tots with them.

AN AWKWARD SITUATION

Galecki previously dated his co-star on "The Big Bang Theory" Kaley Cuoco. The pair played a couple onscreen as well, and Cuoco recently dished about the intimate scenes they did together.

The two co-stars dated for two years of the show's run from 2007, and Cuoco admitted that filming love scenes with Galecki after they broke up was a tad "sensitive" for a short while, but they moved past it.
