When Al Roker's wife Deborah Roberts shared a picture showing them enjoying a date night in a restaurant, she might not have expected some of the responses she got from some of her fans.

The ABC News Network correspondent shared a picture that showed her and her husband seated at a dinner table, with their almost empty dinner plates in front of them.

Roker wore a black shirt and black tie and smiled at the camera. His wife sat beside him and smiled as she looked at the camera while leaning close to him.

Roberts wore a black sweater over a white-collared shirt. The sweater had the drawing of a brown bear clad in a suit. In the caption to her post, Roberts wrote:

Many fans of the couple took turns to gush over them, noting they looked cute in the snapshot. However, some did not like that they were out in a restaurant on a date night and made their feelings known.

One fan wondered if the couple felt comfortable being in a restaurant with the COVID-19 numbers getting high. Roberts responded to the fan, saying the restaurant had lots of spacing and that people used masks and gloves.

Roker, 66, announced he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

However, another fan responded to her reply, saying she and Roker did not make a smart move by going to the restaurant. Another fan expressed disappointment that the couple had dinner outside.

A fourth person asked the couple where their masks were, while a fifth fan said they were not happy with the couple dining in a restaurant.

The fan added that it is their life and decisions before wishing them good luck and expressing love for them. One other fan said they thought indoor dining at restaurants was not allowed, no matter the circumstances.

One can understand why the couple's fans are worried that they dined in a restaurant. In November, Roker, 66, announced he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and would undergo surgery to remove his prostate.

Many fans and co-stars showed him love and support following the announcement. Over a week after, Roberts revealed her husband had undergone surgery and was recovering.

She praised Roker for his bravery, saying she was in awe of his indomitable spirit and grateful for the show of love, prayers, and support from multitudes of people.

Roker and Roberts share the sweetest love story and have been married since 1995. The couple are parents to a daughter, Leila, 22, and a son, Nicholas, 18.
