WARMING UP HER VOCALS
In The Shade Room’s Instagram account, Cole is shown dressed in a white shirt and sweatpants. She appeared to be practicing for Verzuz, a website series created by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz.
While doing rehearsals, Cole sang a rendition from Ashanti’s hit song, "Foolish." Many fans under the video’s comment section were amazed at Cole’s smooth vocals. A fan wrote:
"Keyshia Cole definitely has hits ?."
A SURPRISE COMMENT
Aside from fans’ comments, Ashanti could not help but adore Cole’s version of her song and approved of the way she delivered the tune. She said:
"Luuuuuuuuhhhhaaaaawuuuuuuiuuveeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! This ❤️❤️❤️ ???♎️???[sic]."
"Foolish" is part of Ashanti’s debut single from her self-titled album in 2000. She once shared in a 2017 interview that she wrote the song while dealing with her ex-boyfriend.
ASHANTI OR KEYSHIA?
Many fans were a bit torn as to which of the two remarkable women is better at singing. Some are on Ashanti’s side, while others are rooting for Cole.
Cole and Ashanti’s "Verzuz" singing battle is the fourth female-charged competition. Erykah Badu and Jill Scott, Monica and Brandy, and Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle also performed on the show.
The official "Verzuz" Instagram account earlier teased the "legendary Ladies Night" last December 4 showing Ashanti and Cole’s image in a post. Their scheduled battle will happen on December 12.
THEIR MUSIC UPDATES
In 2019, Ashanti worked on her new album after five years. It was a follow-up to her 2014 LP "Braveheart." She revealed that Tory Lanez, Jeremih, and Swae Lee are part of her album.
Cole has yet to release a new album but among her past album releases, her 2017 album “11:11 Reset” was the most sentimental, as she was broken while creating it.
In the same year, the "You" singer ended her marriage with NBA star Daniel Gibson. After six years of marriage, their divorce was settled in September 2020.
Amid her recent divorce, Cole and Gibson have remained friends. Though they are separated for good, they made sure that their son, Daniel, Jr. is filled with love.
She recently took to Instagram to share her sweet pictures with her son on a car ride. Strapped in their car seats, the mother-son duo had a fun moment while singing along to a song on the radio.
