Cher, 74, Opens up about How She Reacted to Her Son Chaz Bono's Gender Transition

Music legend Cher recently bared it all in an interview where she talked about the first time she learned her child, Chaz Bono Was transitioning and how she had come to terms with it.

Cher is a lot of things— from an iconic singer, to philanthropist to humans and also an animal rights activists. The star is one of those who embodies the definition of a celebrity.

Another the singer's admirable qualities is how she shows support and helps those that she believes in. Such was the case with her son, Chaz Bono, who transitioned.

Cher admitted that it was not an easy feat when Bono, formerly Chastity Bono, decided to transition. Initially when Chaz came out as a lesbian, Cher has his back and he became a prominent figure in the LGBTQ+ community.

Once in a chat, Bono, 51, talked about how his mom was quite protective.

The star mom shared that she thought her son was transgender for years before he finally made the decision and when he did, it took some time to get used to the development. She shared in an interview:

“...that was very difficult. But you don't really lose them. They just are in a different shape…”

Back in August Cher made headlines when she stood against trolls that showed displeasure because Bono wanted to be part of the reality dancing competition, "Dancing With The Stars."

The music legend was having none of it as she took to social media shutting down all forms of negativity from the naysayers and asking her fans to show their support to her son on DWTS.

The talent show’s authorities also voiced out on the verbal attacks directed at Chaz Bono making it known that their policies were never directed to criticise anyone’s sexuality or personality.

Once in a chat, Bono, 51, talked about how his mom was quite protective, calling him often to update him on essentials to get while he was in quarantine with his girlfriend at his L.A home.

As an adult, Bono made a name for himself in several Hollywood blockbusters. He took a bold leap at the age of 39 when he transitioned. He has since documented his journey to coming out in several books.
