Johnny McDaid Is a Talented Musician and Singer — Do You Know Courteney Cox's Partner?
Irish musician and singer Johnny McDaid is "Friends" alum, actress Courteney Cox's longtime partner. He collaborated in the music for a film she directed.
Shortly after her divorce from David Arquette back in 2013, actress Courtney Cox was introduced to singer/songwriter and musician Johnny McDaid by Ed Sheeran, who just happens to be his bestie.
The attraction was immediate, the Irish charmer stole Cox's heart, and the "Cougar Town" star found herself living the reality, in a relationship with the 12-year-younger McDaid.

THE IRISH SINGER
McDaid, now 44, was born in Northern Ireland and has become well-known as a member of the Grammy Award-winning 90s Scots-Irish band Snow Patrol and as a songwriter of numerous hits.
He has written songs with and for several successful British singers such as his friend Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, Ingrid Michaelson, Gary Go, Birdy, Pink, and Robbie Williams, among many others.
DOTING BOYFRIEND
McDaid is obviously devoted to Cox, and his social media account is choc-full of snaps of the stunning actress, accompanied by loving messages. The singer is an incurable romantic and very much in love.
But the relationship hasn't always been easy. Back in June 2014, McDaid and Cox joyfully announced their engagement, but less than a year later, the wedding was called off.
Cox and Arquette were married for 14 years, and share a 16-year-old daughter, Coco.
LONG DISTANCE LOVE
The problem allegedly was that McDaid wanted to return to Britain to live, and Cox was determined to remain in Los Angeles. It looked as if the romance was over, but the two just couldn't stay apart.
Before long, Cox and McDaid were flitting backward and forwards over the Atlantic between Los Angeles and London, where the singer/songwriter had made his home.
COLLABORATION
2015 also saw the first professional collaboration between McDaid and Cox. The actress tried her hand at directing with the movie "Just Before I Go," a black comedy about a man who is determined to commit suicide.
Snow Patrol wrote and produced three of the songs in the movie's soundtrack, which curiously enough starred Cox's ex-husband and father of her only child, actor David Arquette.
Arquette, who has an amicable relationship with Cox, likes McDaid and approves of his relationship with his ex-wife. Cox and Arquette were married for 14 years and share a 16-year-old daughter, Coco.
Becoming a mother was a struggle for Cox, who suffered several miscarriages before finally resorting to IVF to conceive their daughter. Unfortunately, Arquette and Cox's differences ended up driving them apart.
TRAGEDY
Before he met Cox, back in 2011, McDaid lost his father, John McDaid, Sr. at the age of 63. McDaid's friend Foy Vance wrote the song, “Guiding Light,” as a tribute to his father, and they recorded it with Ed Sheeran.
In 2019, Sheeran, McDaid, and one of his sisters had part of the lyrics to "Guiding Light" tattooed on their arms as a reminder of their father's love and his legacy. McDaid has five siblings.
NO MARRIAGE IN SIGHT
Fans of the couple have been anxiously waiting for McDaid and Cox to set a date for the wedding, but the actress has stated that they are not engaged, and she has no intention of marrying.
As for McDaid, he revealed that he considers Cox to be his lover, his best friend, and his partner, but they both felt that marriage would "box them in." For the loving couple, being together is enough.
The couple recently spent nearly nine months apart due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which trapped McDaid in London. Cox and the singer were reduced to Zoom dates but are now happily reunited.
