Hubbard got inspired to write the song after contracting the Covid 19 virus. The singer was quarantined for 12 days on his tour bus after testing positive. He used the time away for inner reflection.
Hubbard has corrected that the song is not in any way political. The singer insisted the song is about how people relate to one another and realized, "Undivided," was a message that people need to hear. He went on to say:
"I didn't think we could need it anymore than we needed it last year, but apparently we still do."
The song marks Hubbard and McGraw's second collaboration, the first being, "May We All." After the song was written, Hubbard immediately thought of McGraw as the perfect person to come on to the inspirational track.
Hubbard praised the legendary music star for his big heart. When McGraw heard the song, he quickly sent feedback to the "Florida Georgia Line" singer wanting to know when they would start recording.
Hubbard has expressed his desire to return mostly to songwriting.
While spending time alone on his tour bus as he was beating the virus in the midst of a soaring pandemic and the US elections, Hubbard realized that the song's message was needed as it also served as a reminder to him.
Walking the talk, Hubbard took to Twitter with Bandmate Kelly, disputing claims that the band had broken up due to differing views. Previously, the two had unfollowed each other on Twitter – an event that started rumors.
"Just to clarify, FGL is not breaking up"
Hubbard went on to confirm that the pair still respect one another and that their divided opinions have brought them closer. Hubbard reached out to Kelly after the Twitter drama and explained to him that it was not personal.
McGraw has also shared his views on his social media platforms about the breaching of the US Capitol. The singer expressed his wish for "Undivided," hoping that his listeners would remember how to treat one another.
FGL has been together for 10 years and has told fans who have followed them through their journey, that they will be venturing out to pursue different interests.
The pair are seeking to add some individual flavor to their art. Hubbard has expressed his desire to return mostly to songwriting while fans of FGL can expect Kelley to release new songs as he pursues a solo career.
