Robert Irwin Admits He Felt Emotional Thinking of His Dad as He Walked Bindi down the Aisle
In a recent remote interview, Bindi Irwin’s brother shared how he felt while walking her down the aisle when she got married. The young conservationist confessed to having thoughts about their late father.
Bindi Irwin, 22, had her wedding day to Chandler Powell on March 25, 2020. One special thing she added to her day was that she honored her late father, Steve Irwin, in her ceremony.
She previously confessed to “People” magazine that the place she got married at was a special one for her father. Bindi shared how Steve had filmed in the area for many years when he was still alive.

Having her wedding there felt wonderful for the conservationist, and she thought it was just meant to be. She also included her father in the ceremony by having his photo with his dog, Sui, blown up on an easel.
Having the image strategically placed meant Bindi and Powell exchanged vows while her mother, Terri, and brother Robert, 17, stood next to the photo. It gave off the impression that Steve was there with them.
The newly-wed television personality also had a candle-lighting ceremony for her late father. She shared how, throughout the whole event, it felt like her father was really with them.
Bindi described the moment as being filled with happiness and peace. Steve, of "The Crocodile Hunter," died at the age of 44 in September 2006, during a diving expedition off Australia's coast.
On the latest “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on Wednesday, Bindi appeared virtually with her family. Her teenage brother, who walked her down the aisle in their father’s place, explained how he’d felt.
Robert Irwin humbly noted that walking Bindi Irwin down the aisle was their father’s job.
He told Kelly Clarkson that it was one of the most incredible moments in his whole young life. The young star confessed how honored he’d been when his sister asked him to take their father’s place.
The family had a small ceremony for the young couple due to the novel Coronavirus disease outbreak. Robert shared how he handled the special day and his significant role, stating:
"I think for me I was incredibly emotional at the same time…”
He explained how he was proud of his sister, but at the same time, he kept thinking about how much he wished Steve could’ve been there. Robert humbly noted that walking Bindi down the aisle was their father’s job.
Bindi and Powell tied the knot at the Australia Zoo, where they first met and got engaged. Robert gave off Steve vibes earlier in the month when he shared a video of him feeding a crocodile.
