In an interview on the “Andy Cohen Live” show, Salma Hayek revealed that the bizarre story concerning the Spanish heritage controversy didn’t affect her opinion of Hilaria Baldwin.

Actress Salma Hayek shared her opinion on the Hilaria Baldwin controversy surrounding her Spanish heritage, saying that the mother of 5 was a good person, and that was all that really mattered.

Following the intense controversy where Twitter was ablaze with threads about Hilaria’s claim to having a Spanish heritage, Hayek’s comments shed light on how we should be viewing the situation.

SPANISH SCANDAL

Hayek has a trace of Spanish ancestry herself, with her mother’s family originating from Spain, making her equipped to deliver an insider’s opinion on the strange story that has been unfolding. Hayek is more proud than anything else.

Alec Baldwin’s co-star made it evident that she was not too bothered with the story about his wife and was more concerned with the type of person her friend was married to. During the interview, she said:

"...She's not a bad person. ...She makes my friend happy. She's very kind to me, and that's all I care about."

This humorous story had that Twitter buzzing over December all started with a user posting a thread showcasing evidence that the yoga instructor’s Spanish heritage was all just a show.

The evidence included Hilaria videos, articles about her, and an all-around deep dive into her past, all to debunk the Spanish myth about the influencer. Some may say that the evidence is compelling.

Hilaria, whose birth name is Hillary Hayward-Thomas, eventually had enough speculation on social media and decided to take matters into her own hands. She posted a 7-minute long video where she gave an in-depth explanation of her past.

She confirmed that she was born in Boston but said that she grew up in both America and Spain, which lead to her multicultural heritage and her Spanish accent. Hilaria explained her accent, saying:

“I am that person that if I’ve been speaking a lot of Spanish, I tend to mix them, and if I’m speaking a lot of English, then I mix that.”

FAMILY SPEAKING OUT

Hilaria did not only try to damper the rumors herself, but her husband, her step-daughter Ireland Basinger Baldwin, as well as her in-laws, have spoken out against the stories.

Everyone was in defense of the mother of 5, saying that social media users must know the boundaries to people’s personal boundaries. With her extended family stepping in to clear her name, Hilaria had all the support she needed.

As Hayek said, the situation is utterly bizarre, but if nothing else, quite humorous. The Twitter detectives will stop at nothing to reveal the truth with compelling evidence to back it up, especially when it comes to famous influencers.

Taking Hayek’s word for it, it is important to hold on to the type of person on the receiving side of the scandal to maintain perspective. However funny the situation may appear, Hilaria's reputation and family has been under serious scrutiny.
